Motion for daily newsletter.

Motion:
I create a motion for a daily newsletter of the past 24 hours *top* deals.

Description:
A daily newsletter of the past 24 hours deals that can be printed out and read on the bus or in the restroom at work in the morning would be a helpful tool in saving money and bring more traffic to this site (which i will now mention seems to have slowed down in the last week) This newsletter will have the deals posted within the last 24 hours along with printable coupons posted within the last 24 hours.

Risks:
Emails sent to recipients who say they did not want this option.
(members only?, 4 week members only?, N posts only? restrict?)

Sounds like a good idea. But then again, I check the site about 20 times a day anyways. :)

Not in favor.
Seems like some deals you have to catch immediately. Plus most of the time I'm clicking the links to get the details.

What might me nice is a way to filter the latest deals/posts vs. comments from everyone on receiving an item.
Maybe a simple link pointing to all the first posts or order by date and number of posts. This way you know your viewing a hot post.

A second poll:
How 'bout changing hot deals & slick deals forums into plain 'ol slick deals. BUT move all the regular deals, such as, circuit city, dell, best buy, office max, staples etc... into a new forum called "most popular" or "retail deals".

It seams many of the smaller deals get pushed off page 1&2 by all the "regulars"

hum, I could see stormin_norm's idea work, but I wouldn't merge slickdeals and hotdeals. Slickdeals is those select few deals that are deemed worthy enough for frontpage. Hotdeals is everything else, but I do think perhaps hotdeals should be partitioned between local stores and online outfits.

on the newsletter idea I just don't know, it seems like if you want bathroom reading materials it is best to view the "free magazine (http://www.slickdeals.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=13)" thread ;) But seriously it seems pretty silly to print off a paper and read it when you still have to go back to the computer and visit slickdeals anyways to jump on the deal. I just check slickdeals every other 5 or 6 seconds to make sure I haven't missed anything. Like previously said, good deals don't wait around for you to get out of the crapper (just an example ;))

Agree, or possibly move the threads that are >=1 day old to a new forum. That way you only have the most recent threads in the Hot Deals/Slick Deals. Then you can still see the "hot threads" and the Hot Deals
