I looked around the site and at tripadvisor.com. I couldn't really find any current deals that were worth jumping on for hotels on the strip. Anyone have any suggestions? Going to be in Vegas from May 25-27. Also can anyone recommend any of the current playing shows?
Thanks,
serra

check our own hot deals forum. search keyword "vegas" in thread titles in the hot deals forum. i saw a $39 special for the rio (a little bit off the strip) but that's a great deal. there's another thread with vegas specials too.

i go to vegas this week... ended up deciding on planet hollywood. I would suggest reading a lot about the hotels on trip advisor and then targeting a specific hotel. The cheapest route may not be the best. there is a lot of things to consider. I could not end up beating the deals from southwest vacations. The combo Flight + hotel is very cheap

in terms of great deals the 39/night for the rio that serra mentioned is pretty good. All their rooms are still suites right? I'd rather be at the rio than at the stratosphere - to me the rio is as much on the strip as one of the far flung hotels like the sahara or circus circus, and the rio is actually a nice hotel/resort with real shows (Penn and Teller) and places to eat.
If I had to go to vegas right now though I'd just find the best deal at PH like Silverz seems to have. IMO PH is the place to stay right now - great location, a good number of people gambling and staying there, and TONS of shopping and restuarants without ever having to expose yourself to the weather. A lot of hotels were absolutely DEAD empty last time I was in vegas - which was the end of january, overlapping with Chinese new years in fact. The economy seems to be hurting vegas a lot. the good news is that booking a room is cheap. The bad news is that if you want to actually see other people you have to go find a more popular place than the bargain places I usually stay.

check out the MGM deal on these forums in "hot deals".
$49 a night including 2 buffets per DAY, 2 free poolside cocktails, free admission to tabu and studio 54, and some other stuff going on there.
dinner buffet by itself there is $55 including tax for 2 people so its a pretty decent deal. my wife and i went there 2 weeks ago and used this deal it was great. we had dinner the evening we got there, and breakfast the morning of our checkout free of charge.
