I would definitely agree with IAMSLICK and go the way of getting a Canon. I've owned Sony, Casio, Kodak, Olympus, and Canon cameras. The Canon is way ahead in terms of picture quality and features. In addition to these, Canon also has the Canon Loyalty Program. This lets you upgrade your camera to a newer(albeit refurbished) model. I just upgraded my sister's A80(which was broken) to a SD1000 for $100 shipped with a 6 month warranty. Better than putting it on ebay for parts IMO. Use live.com to get 8% cashback and you can get the same A470 with a 2 GB memory card, tripod, and case for $91.95 with free shipping.

That is definitely a good price. Congratulations. Although sometimes value isn't measured in terms of best price for most megapixels, it's the overall quality of your photo.

Don't take my word for it, check with your friends/coworkers/family/your trusty camera blog/ who own other cams. Remember that megapixels mean nothing when it comes to quality and/or features.
I've had 7 MP cameras(Casio Exilim S770and Olympus FE-230) that took worse pics than a 4 MP "old" digicam.(a Canon A80 to be exact)

Like a wise old wizard once told me, Sony makes TV's, Casio makes watches, Kodak made it's living on 35 mm film and gave up on it for a few years to make APS(a dead format), the rest you can do your homework and find out who is best. For me, Olympus makes garbage, Sony is tolerable, Kodak...good for my 1st cam, Casio makes a pretty cam that takes bad pics, and Canon, my last choice, but happened to be the best of them all. The only brand I haven't tried is Nikon. They may be good, they might not. I don't know. I've made over $1500 of camera mistakes and this is what I know from MY experience.
