Folks, SPAM and PHISHING are not the same thing. The Freebie True Believers always laugh at people who call out these fake offers by saying Spam never hurt anybody when in fact what these fake offers are really doing is PHISHING (fishing for your name & Street address which can then be compiled and sold to direct marketers and telemarketers who use reverse phone directories to get your phone number.

We're all adults here and a small but vocal portion of slick dealers don't see anything wrong with forking over their actual name, real physical address, birth date, phone number,m age and other info to somebody they don't know in the hopes of receiving a too-good-to-be-true freebie. That's their right of course.

However, if you would prefer to be a little bit cautious and more private.. don't fall for this crap. No good can come from handing over this data to somebody who is obviously lying to you.

The last field you fill in before you choose the scent for the fabric softener you're not going to get is labeled "Email Address". They also sell your info to junk mail senders as well as spammers.

The item copied below is from their "Legal" (usually it is under terms and conditions) and is found in a lot of phishing or info gathering sites. It is ALWAYS #10 and means that they don't have to send you anything and won't send you anything. This term always has the same misspelling in it. I wonder if there is a guide to setting up a phishing/info gathering site? :confused:
