I need a 5,000-6,000BTU air conditioner for a window that is only 18" wide (opening). Most require at least a 22"opening.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I'll bet that most of the portable air conditioners will fit because the exhaust tube is relatively small. You don't have to fit the physical air conditioner into the window, just the exhaust tube.

The problem with them is that they are more expensive and you have to empty the water out of them.

A deal killer for me is that the room is tiny & there is a king sized bed in there so a portable is not an option. I bought this house in 1995 & there was an air condioner in the window then that the previous owner took with him. When I Googled "narrow window AC's"
several people listed narrow models but the last post was 2002 & all are discontinued. Maybe AC's have gotten wider since then? That would seem odd to me as most electronics have gotten smaller & more efficient.
Thanks for your input!
