View Full Version : Proposal: Add a flame / junk forum

A flame junk forum would help seperate the trash from the rest. Arguments in favor:
Trashy posts would be less likely to get dumped into the Podium.
Users could have some assurance that they aren't being outright censored because their views are unpopular.
Quarentining the junk would make it convenient for readers to populate their ignore lists.
Having clearly marked bad case examples would enable posters to get an idea of the standard of quality that's expected before they post.
Readers can quickly check whether they're about to award a rep point to an idiot :)
This would be a better alternative to the silencing approach (http://forums.slickdeals.net/t138592.html?).
BTW, I meant to make this a poll, but forgot and couldn't add the poll after submitting :(
A sort of NSFW forum might be in order, help clean out the other forums (Lounge, Podium)

I thought that was what this forum was for.

From reading the descriptions, it seems the podium is restricted to political / religious / controversy, and the lounge is described as the "catch all." Lounge readers probably don't want flames and the like dumped there. BTW, I like the "office space" avatar!

Are you saying I am NOT supposed to be flaming some of the idiots and bottom feeders who post here?

You should still be able to add a poll after you post... I did the other day... It should be under the "Thread Tools" drop-down list from the main page of the post...

How about some examples of junk threads so we'd know what you're talking about and also so we'd know how prevalent they are?

Anything that is not safe for work, however since img tags are disabled here its not that big of a deal, however maybe they should be in the proposed forum. I hate clicking so many image links.

the img tag is o n in all the everything else forums. they are turned off in the deal forums.
if you forget and want an easy way, scroll to the bottom and see the posting rules. it'll tell you if its on or off in the forum you are in.
