Is the s10 considered less than a laptop? If i sell or trade in next year what will it be worth. Im open to any suggestions things i need would include decent speakers, 6 cell battery, nice lcd screen, sweet wireless internet. Another one i was thinking about acer at walmart $298 with athlon processor. Everyone seems pro lenovo lately.

For $300 budget, I would suggest you to buy a netbook only rather than spending on it on a not so good laptop. These lenovo netbooks do not come with cd drive so you can consider that as one difference between a mainstream laptop. If you want the reviews of this then see it here

decent speakers - as long as your expectations aren't too high most netbooks will suffice
6 cell battery - definitely possible
nice lcd screen - Do you mean size, resolution, glossy? netbooks usually have 9-10". imo 10" is an absolute minimum
sweet wireless internet - are you looking for wireless N? with most netbooks this will require an upgrade

like damn said, as long as you can live w/o a cd drive & larger lcd, get a netbook.
I'd recommend Dell, HP, Acer or Lenovo. All of them should pretty much have what you are looking for. Do some comparisons and see which you prefer. Then do a search on here for the best deal. Sometimes its best to wait a week or so for the best deal to come up.
