Looking for some good deals on some slow pitch softball bats. Don't really want to spend an arm and leg, but I don't want a Hammer from Walmart either.

There has to be some weekend warriors on here who can help me find a bat

Here's a twitter account that regularly posts deals on bats and bat accessories (baseball and softball): http://twitter.com/Baseball_Bat

And this account seems to post sweet deals too, but apparently they only sell Rip-It stuff so far. Great prices if you're a Rip-It fan: http://twitter.com/softballsavings

sorry bout that. they do sell the rip-it reaper which is a solid slowpitch bat from most accounts. i've heard good things about miken bats too, but i don't know of any specific retailer that sells them at great prices. you might have better luck asking around at the softball fans forums (http://www.softballfans.com/forums/).

I went to the site above and bought a used bat from a guy for $50 shipped three years ago and our team still uses it over even newer bats.

I always suggest buying new because of the danger of inadvertantly buying an altered bat. And yes people really do open up bats and alter them to increase performance. If you get caught swinging an altered bat you are banned from playing softball in any organization for two years.

As posted above if you go over to softballfans.com and log onto their message board there are a lot of guys who have ins with dealers and such and can get you a new in the wrapper bat for 20-30% below retail. kellysultimatesports.com is a decent site for bats as is sportsdiamond.com

Your choice of bat is going to depend on which organization you play in. USSSA has much looser restrictions on bats than ASA does. Make sure you purchase a bat that is legal for use in the assocation that you play in.

I play in some small hick town rec league, so I guess they could catch me, if i was swinging an altered bat, but we didn't actually have to "sign" up for the league, we just got a team together and found a sponsor. But I'm guessing that if they took the time to alter the bat, they would not be selling it for $50. I'll check all the sites out though.

Thanks guys
