Go back to cable & get a tivo. Directtv will screw you with a 2 year commitment.

Just complain to DTV.
Everything is negotiable... I got both of my hd-dvr receivers free.
Why would anyone pay $199 for something you don't own AND you must pay $5/mo fee for?

I really want to add a 2nd HD box since I just bought another HD TV
But they tell me I have to renew my contract.
They say if i bought my own box on buy.com or ebay, that even then I'd have to get a new access card, and that with the new access card, that would cost $20 and they'd require me to renew the contact also.
So basically they're telling me its impossible to get a 2nd box unless I'm willing to pay $500 for it or renew my contract.
This sucks.
