First, I want to say that I love this site. I come here everyday to read and learn from others. Usually, I find out what I need from reading the comments, etc.
From time to time, I see people posting info about web hosting, but it is mixed in with everything else. I know that people have their favorites, but I wish there was one place where we all can share information about web hosting deals.
If it is possible, is it possible to create a separate category for web hosting deals. I know there are many people like myself who would really appreciate and benefit from the knowledge of experienced slicksters.
Thanks Slickdeals.
Wha?Where?

What kind of deal would you need on web hosting? Webhosting is cheap and easy... heck if you need to just host a simple noncritical site spend 200 bux and get an old computer.. load Linux/Apache get a broadband connection and host it yourself. It really isnt that difficult and there are plenty of good step by step how tos for newbies.... plus sourceforge.net has a ton of great open source software to help you do what ever you want.
Cost - free if you have broadband and a spare computer laying around.

Not exactly free since you have to pay for your electricity which is now at all-time highs. A PC consumes, what - 100-200W? Electricity costs, what - 10¢ per kilowatt hour? 0.1kW x 10¢ x 720 hours per month = $7.20 (or more) per month to run your "free" webserver. Of course, it does double as a heater during the winter...

IMHO, there are other topics that could more readily justify separate categories.
For example, there are more threads on deals for photographic equipment, laptops, desktops, monitors, software, and wireless networking, than there are on webhosting.

Thanks for everyone's insightful comments. Well, if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be.
