Seemingly we are scaling back the amount of cash we threw at my daughter's last party. So I guess that is the good news. I figure there is someplace online to find nice enough all cotton or at least a decent blend 50/50.
The girls are 6 or 7 years old, and I presume buying direct from China would be cheaper than buying from a retailer like Michaels or AC Moore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OuUr dollar store usually has white t-shirts. They may not be the sizes you would prefer, but I threw a tie-die party for my friends kid and the larger shirts got used as pajamas. They love them anyway.
Either that or walmart?

That might work. I'm sure that is a YMMV situation, but I will start looking for them there.

yah, i have to second that all the DOLLAR TREES in my area have the white shirts- However, maybe it would be cheaper to buy a pack of little boys undershirts from walmart since they come in packages ya know?
i just looked up the price on walmart though and they are over 1.00 a piece for a 10 pack, but if your $ store does not have them, this could be an option

online places are around 1.62 but that of course is before shipping

I buy boys' Hanes in the multipacks for tie dyeing -- they are thinner than the beefy tees, but cost about $1 a shirt. If you're using fiber reactive dyes, try to use 100% cotton, or else the shirts won't hold the dye.

Someone gave a tip to my wife that she needs to use "good" dyes so the colors are vibrant. So, we will have to see how much the good dyes cose.
