You can basically get the cashback through bing.com or other cashback sites
or get the deal when apple sells macbook and gives free ipod touch with it

If your state has a tax free holiday, wait until then. There are also a few websites out there that will give 1% cashback at Apple. It would only be $14, but that's better than nothing.

Your best option is to get a apple refurb:
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?mco=MTE3NjY
Excellent deals pop up (They had white macbooks a few days ago for $750 a piece) and they come with the full factory 1 year warranty.
You can also get double points with some cards there (My citi thank you card gives double points at Apple online)

I saw someone on another forum say they saved 400 bucks on the old machine when the new ones just came out. I asked how and there was never a reply.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? I didn't see any discount like that on Apple.com, but maybe Amazon or elsewhere discounts that much when the new machines come out?
I hope this isn't a hijack, I think the question helps the OP too I hope.

B&H Photo has previous generation macbook pro(15.4"/2gb ram/250gb HD/2.4 GHZ) for $1499 which includes Parallels software (can run a Virtual Windows Machine while also running OS X), with free shipping and no tax (tax only applies to NY). If you buy thru Bing you get another 2% (I think its that). B&H is a great seller. Also I started a topic on FW (search for "Mac Users") where there are lots of comments about the previous generation vs new generation, new vs. refurbs, etc... If you are a Student you may want to get in on the free ipod/itouch at Apple.com or Apple Store if you buy a macbook pro (you'll pay tax thought)

Not sure the lowest, can't use Bing CB and at least for NJ they charge tax. Also on reseller rating B&H 9.73 out of 10 (almost 8000 reviews) vs. Mac Connection 6.25 out of 10.
