eFax Number Swap

First off, if this has been posted anyone else please forgive me. I did search and could not find it.

eFax has a free service which allows you to receive faxes (you have to pay to send) to a phone number and they will come to you in Email. The problem is that you do not get a local number if you choose the free version. If anyone is interested, we can start swapping numbers here.

I have a 603, 413 and 801 area codes available. I need a 901 number.

Here is a little trick to search each page of this thread for the area code you want.
You need firefox. In firefox click tools > options > advanced > general tab and check "search for text when I start typing"

(or you can simply hit "Ctrl + F7" on either Internet Explorer or Firefox, and type in the number you want.)
(OR you can try using "Search this thread" on the top right)

Just click on the page and type in the number you want. If the number is on the page, it will turn green and highlight that number. If it is not on that page, it will stay red and not highlight anything; move on to the next page.

You also might want to go into your user settings and set the max posts per page to 40 posts per page.
Click on UserCP > edit options > scroll down to "Thread Display Options" > "Number of Posts per Page" > click drop down menu and select "show 40 posts per page" [SMP]

They changed the rules over the years, I believe. Years ago, they gave out 1-800 numbers. I cancelled my account when I bought a fax machine, now I regret it. It was a convenience for senders.

local number is a number in your area.

For example, i live in or around san jose so my local area code is (408) ### - ####.

whatever your phone number area code is, that's your local code. If they give you a non-local number u can still use their service. it doesn't make a difference, but it's nice to have a local number that matches your other phone numbers.

You can send faxes but it costs you. The free service is only for receiving faxes.

whatever your phone number area code is, that's your local code. If they give you a non-local number u can still use their service. it doesn't make a difference, but it's nice to have a local number that matches your other phone numbers.

You can send faxes but it costs you. The free service is only for receiving faxes.

wow, we're really getting a lot of non-SD'ers registering just to get an efax number. i'm not sure how i feel about that....:look:

ha weird to me how they can have so many 610 numbers which are supposed to be running low which gave to creating 484 and the same goes for 215 which created a need for 267. When I was younger in Upper Darby my number was 215 for my house then it changed to 610. the worst was though you had to dial 610 first like it was long distance when calling between other 610 numbers. i'm not sure if this is something nationwide yet or not but i'm so used to it now.

It actually gets delivered as a *.efx file that needs to be opened with the eFax Messenger. I don't know of any other .efx reader, but if somebody knows of one, please share! From there you can convert to .tiff, but I don't think you can convert to pdf with the free version.
There's the usual fax header on the top, but from what I've seen there's no watermark.

I been noticing a few poeple ask for 206 area code. www.k7.net always gives you 206 area code and works pretty much the same as efax and its free ofcourse!!

Actually I think K7 is better, they even let you search for vanity numbers free!
