DLP or LCD Projector For Classroom

I am looking for a projector for my 3rd grade classroom.

I just bought an Elmo TT-02s, it has XGA output (1024 x 768 @60 Hz).

I need a low cost projector because I will be using my own funds to buy it.

Longevity, resolution, and brightness are of concern, and in that order.


sub $400 would be nice.

sub $300 would make me cry with joy.

sub $250 would be a miracle.

sub $200 would make me a believer.

Does anyone have an idea of the minimum contrast ratio and brightness needed to operate in a classroom with dimmed lights.

I would try craigslist and see what you can find for an office going out of business and check out grants that are around.

Whatever you do - check the price of replacement bulbs.

They are great things to have - I teach 7th grade and love mine. Our school got ours through a math grant. Good Luck.
