Wii for 6 year old kid

Hi, can someone suggest some good game console. we just moved here USA and not aware of this games, ps2, ps3, wii, xbox and what not.

my son likes thomas and friends train, spongbob cartoons, and these days harry potter movies. can someone suggest me video games for him please. i have not yet decided , but thinking some games for him. Thanks in advance!!

When my son was younger we started him on a Game Cube because it had a lot of the cartoony type games. He then moved on to the DS and last year when he turned 9 we got him the Wii. I'd say to start with something inexpensive as a first system then move up
