Earphone Volume Control

Hey, I'm looking for a little adapter that I can plug my earphones into that can adjust the volume of my earphones. Whenever I plug my earphones into my laptop, it is often way too loud, even at the minimum volume settings.

in other words, I'm looking for something like:
(earphones)--------------------------------(volume control)--(computer/ipod)

I'm having a little bit of trouble finding something like this, I imagine they should be available anywhere, but strangely, I can't find any non-sketchy looking places that sell them online.

Does anyone know where I can find this item?

Have you considered replacing your earphones with a better one with volume control? Koss KSC75 is a great one with volume control if you're into rock, and alot of sony's (Crappier) have volume control (Like the E828's for ~4 shipped @ focalprice.com
