Well guys im looking for the new macbook pro 13 in (MB990LL/A);
so far the best deal i found is through apple.com but thats if i sell the itouch (already got a iphone) ... can anyone help me find a better deal; or find some way to lower the price a bit?
my budget is 1.2k ... but the student discount barely makes the cut and i cant stand knowing the ipod touch is free with mail in rebate (anyone know how long this will take?) i can borrow a hundred or 2 and get the itouch and sell it. thanks.

Microcenter had a sale. Do a search on Slickdeals? I remember there was something posted from yesterday.

13" MB Pro's don't exist, only 15" and 17" ones are MB Pro's. For any apple product, I would go used, as it's highly marked up. Craigslist has some insanely good finds for macs, especially for you, as I looked into it for you. This is perfect and I would buy it myself if I didn't live 2,700 miles away :(. San Diego is a great place :D

Other options are available here: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=macbook&catAbbreviation=sss&srchType=T&minAsk=400&maxAsk=1200
Put the money saved towards a good warranty (3 years) since repairs get very expensive without, and these crack/dent/get failed motherboards(aka: hardly fixable) often. I think amazon has a deal on it.

Wrong. (http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-13inch.html) They came out with the 13" pro this year. Where have you been?
I'm not a Mac guy at all but the Macbook Pro looks pretty sweet. Install Windows on there and I'm good to go! Any Mac is pretty expensive but I think this can be had for under $1000. OP, $1200 price seems like the regular price, so you should shoot for under $1000. I believe there is a student discount or a rebate or something. Set up a deal alert for it.
Also be very careful if you plan to install a 3rd party hard drive. Apparently new EFI updates from Apple are preventing these from working properly. But if you are going to use it as-is, then don't worry about it.

Fist off, don't buy a mac off craigslist. Are you willing to risk it? Second, 13" macbook pro's do exist. Have one right here. The best place to buy a 13" Macbook pro is from the applestore. I got a 18% corporate discount on the laptop/ipod touch deal. The rebate comes back to you in 30-days, nothing to mail in. You can even sell the ipod touch later on to make the deal even hotter and go get a squaretrade extended warranty.

I just want to mention that you also can get a printer rebate for up to 100 dollars
But apple store likes to overprice stuff so those printers worth about $70 max

This link http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/sys/1293590761.html that you posted is a scam. Look here (http://chrisclemons.com/blog/index.php/2008/macbook-pro-scam-on-craigslist/).

I am using the new 13 macbook pro right now!
Got mine off Ebay Brand new in sealed box. Used a 10% paypal coupon along with bing cashback and got it for less that 900. I got it about 2 days after it came out. Great laptop. I used to be a pc guy but never again! Sold my levono I had to offset the cost!
Now thats a deal!

You could take your chances and buy off of ebay, and get the bing cashback which is "suppose to" go up to 16% in august.
Your best bet is buying from the apple store. You get the basic 13" macbook pro for $1099 plus tax (education discount) + free ipod touch and printer (free after rebate). You can always ebay the printer and ipod.

ha i just totally forgot about that one; so here waht i did; the micro center one i had to pay tax o that was 1.3k .. so i used the educational discount at the store and paid 1.5k for a 13in with a printer and a itouch; planing on selling those too so my net price comes down to be maybe 1k? yeah. thanks guys!
and loving my first mac :] !

its VERY rare to find deals on macbook pros. if you are trying to stick to your budget and still want a macbook pro, i suggest looking at previous gens (which are still very good imo) where they may be a few hundred cheaper.
hope this helps

[OH GOD FORGIVE ME] ... I upset the macbook fanboy club :( ... Looks like the link I put ($680) got flagged, so I guess it IS a scam :I
