Hey fellow SDers,
I've a very technical person that has quite a dilemma. I always lived on getting the most bang for the buck and this is my situation now. I've been researching hardware and hardware prices for about a year now. This includes going to various platforms like AM3, LGA 1366, but now I've come to something else. I've wanted to build a beast machine for a while that is a gaming powerhouse that would also play well with multimedia and have a fast interface. I also only need a certain few parts since I can use some from my current machine. The parts I plan to sub in from my current rig are 260 gtx, sound fi xfi, case, antec 650wattpsu, My OS. The specific parts that I'm looking for are as follows:
RAM
CPU,
MOBO
CPU Cooler for OC'ing,
SSD (this is a must for primary, I will not do with HDDs)
I was planning on going with the intel lynnfield LGA-1156 platform when it comes out in about a month. I wanted the I-7 860 cpu and a great mobo for OC'ing. I want really good ram for it too. I was looking at buying 1, maybe 2 of the new Intel G2 SSDs for raid 0. A sub 50 dollar cooler would suffice. I know newegg sometimes has crazy nice combo deals. So should I buy these parts as soon a lynnfield comes out or what? I've already been waiting for a while. At some point i was convinced i was going AM3... especially when I saw combos that were like phenom 955 + decent mobo for about 300 bucks.
