i was wondering if there's a way to set up deal alert so that all new threads in "Surveys" will trigger a deal alert for me....maybe im missing something but it seems like i have to either set it to 2+ thumbs(which i dont want to do) or i have to enter a keyword phrase or it wont accept the new deal alert.....is there a keyword phrase that would select for all new threads such as the old *.* for files?

Hi bezelbub :)

I think that the closest you could come to something like that is to maybe create a deal alert for:
Target Forum: Survey Forum
Keyword Phrase: survey

I think that most threads created for surveys would contain the word survey in the body of the post.

Hope this helps and good luck with it :)

I couldn't find any better way than brisar mentions above, either. Just make sure that when you set up the alert that you have it set to *ignore rating* too, in order to pull as many threads as possible.

One other thing you can do is if you use RSS, the survey forum has an RSS feed. It's the little orange button at the top left of the forum.

Thanks Brisar and Widget -

RSS for the Survey section is a good idea but i dont think i could wade thru that many survey posts though ....cant believe theres no other way to do this...now i just have bunch of different alerts for "new" "survey" "study" "panel", etc etc...

The RSS feed only shows new threads made in the forum, not for every post, so it might work for you.

The other alternative is to set up a deal alert for "http" which will catch a good majority of new threads, since most posts will have a link in them.

thanks DNC, im going to try your "http" idea...the various alerts i have now are working okay but that might let me just use 1 alert to get the job done....i tried the RSS feed but didnt like the format too much- i did seem to work though...

Try using this as keyword:

http|hxxp|www|survey|(heads up)|pt|(product test)|study|panel

Test it to see results by clicking here (http://forums.slickdeals.net/sdsearch.php?&order=descending&sortby=lastpost&search=http|hxxp|www|survey|(heads%20up)|pt|(product%20test)|study|panel&perpage=20&mode=forum&forumchoice[]=39&firstpost=1)

And if you are satisfied with what threads it returns, click here (http://forums.slickdeals.net/dealalerts.php?do=adddealalert&keyword=http|hxxp|www|survey|(heads%20up)|pt|(product%20test)|study|panel&forumid=39) to add it to your DA list.

That's an excellent keyword/phrase set up, redsolar!

And bezelbub, keep in mind that the search results that redsolar shows you above will be for all current threads that have those terms in them, not just new ones. But once you actually set the deal alert, itself, the alert will only give you new threads with those terms. So this should go a long way to get you most if not all of the new survey threads :)
