The old sort option has been removed. In your usercp, change the "Thread Sorting Options" to sort by thread start date.

Not sure if it's a problem with the new software or existed, but I can't save it after I upload a custom profile picture. It shows me the image, the upon save it says "invalid file".

oops don't mind me, was doing it wrong...

oh hey look at this - signatures are repeating on the same page
I liked that feature before where you only see them once per poster per thread?

and in my profile:
Time spent in forums: 68 Years 1 Month 5 Days 3 Hours 14 Minutes 7 Seconds
68 years eh? Well I guess it feels like that sometimes...

Also, some people in the lounge are saying there post number colored bar things are gone.

When I try to access forum pages (main selection or thread selections) about 50% of time the page goes in to a (seemingly) endless reload cycle. Each reload puts the page back to the top.. I have to use "STOP" to be able to navigate the page.

This is with IE 6 (and the XP page clicks make it sound like I have crickets in here! :) )

When selecting a thread in the lounge, the box highlights in blue, but you still have to click on the text of the thread title. This is not a problem in the deal section forums, they still work. This is apparently only a problem in the lounge, tech support, and the "private forums".

my guess its because of your mod powers, if you double click on the box, it edits the titles.

in the deal forums, you can't edit the the title so it works as normal.

i have to click the text title in any forum.

<This is size two>, <and this is one size down (doesn't look like it) using the decrement (-1) operand>, <while this is back to previous size>.
produces:
<This is size two>, <and this is one size down (doesn't look like it) using the decrement (-1) operand>, <while this is back to previous size>.

This code:

Here is the first experiment repeated, without embedding size changes. It still fails, but it's even more screwey, because the size decrement occurs after the closure tag:

has the -1 operand worked before? using size 1 obviously works. I don't think it worked before, but then I never did this test explicitly before. I just recall that I had some trouble getting sizing to work properly, and never tried to pin it down. But it's a bug nonetheless, as opposed to simply being a missing feature. The FAQ indicates that relative sizing is available. But as my experiment shows, relative sizing does take effect in some cases, and when it does, it's after the region that is supposed to be affected.

relative sizing seems to work fine when its not using size 2 as a base size, since that's our standard text size.

The spoiler has different behaviour now. The spoiler used to provide a way to eliminate the string "quote:" from the beginning of a quote, if used as follows:

their words..

That code now produces:
their words..

And so the spoiler tag is ineffective. It's not necessarily a bug; I may have been taking advantage of a bug before, but it's a difference from the previous version.

luxuryoils

Spoiler should never be used to remove the word quote: from a quote. Instead eliminate the equal sign and the word will be automatically dropped.

Yeah, I miss the "New deal posts" link too. I rarely care what's in the lounge, etc. and the "New Posts" is full of that stuff. Hope it gets added back in. Takes a lot more time to go thread by thread to see what's new.

Edit:
Sorry, I should have added the good as well. The upgrades do look good. The way posts and replies work is much slicker. I've been limited on how much time I can spend on here lately so I'm sure I'll find a lot more improvements which I'll like as well.

when repost screen comes up and you click on it to link the new post to the old one you don't get there

You get:$repostthread[title] thread.

When you click it you get:Object not found!

When viewing the thread
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?threadid=150906
I consistently get the following error at the top of the screen:
Warning: parse_url(http://): Unable to parse url in /includes/class_bbcode.php(149) : eval()'d code on line 38

Actually, I just got it again upon 'Preview Post.' So it may not be limited to the thread I mentioned.

The new problem:

The link for "quick links" vanishes when it is clicked. This occurs only on Firefox for M$ Windows (no problems on other browsers, including Firefox for linux), and it only happens on the main initial forums page.

An old problem:

On any version of Firefox, doing a control-left-click on a thread title should open that thread in another tab (which it does), but then the *current* window also loads the same clicked thread in parallel (when it should not change), as if the control button was not used. It's unusual, because it's not a problem on other vBulletin sites, and it's not a problem if you launch the new tab the long way (that is, to right click, and choose "open link in new tab".

The best workaround I've found is to do a control-shift-t to start tabbed mode by launching an identical tab, then drag links onto the tab bar. I'm not sure how many other Firefox users have been stuck with this workaround, but it causes one slickdeals page to be loaded unnecessarily per user per session.

Is SD the only site where these problems occur? If not, then what you're saying is that you posted in the SD forum when you should be in the Firefox forum? If so, then please ignore my sarcasm, although you may want to post on the Firefox forums also. Good day.

My title here looks retarded and I know I didn't do it, how can I fix it? Edit won't let me edit title. Can someone tell me what to do, thanks!

Two ways.

1). Double click on the box your title is in on the forum index page. You can then edit it. This is the same box you would single click to open your thread.

2). Click on the "Go Advanced" button on your post after you have clicked the "edit" button.

I posted a message and then attempted to mod alert a repost.

I received an error message stating that I needed to wait 20 seconds between posts and that 8 seconds remained. I waited and posted the mod alert.

It appears that both mod alerts were actually accepted by the system, including the one that yielded the error message.

Is uploading animated avatars blocked ?
still blocked for me...

When I try to give rep points, the first click per page-load never works. There's some very quick activity, like it's loading a few gifs in a flash, but the "give rep" windows doesn't pop up. After that it'll work, and it doesn't matter whether my second or third attempt is for the same post.

Still blocked for me as well. In fact, it won't even take a .jpg or .gif that is not animated. :sadwalk:

I for one would like to have the confirmation thingy in the PM's be an automatic again ...I don't like trying to remember to check the box for each PM
Check your UserCP, there's now an option to make the default checked/unchecked.

I'm not a big fan of the new user lookup feature in the search screen.

Standard browser intellisense used to provide matching user IDs. If I wanted to search for my own posts, I'd press X and Xnarg would come up in the field immediately, I'd press tab, and do the search.

Now I have to type out my entire user name, and by the time I've tabbed onto the next field, the new system suggests either Xnarg and Xnargtheass (an inactive member name).

If I wanted to search for a post by redsolar, I'd just press r and redsolar would pop up. Now it takes a lot more keystrokes to get to user redsolar.

Also, if I go on to the next screen and come back to the search screen to change parameters, the user name is now blank. The old system used to leave the user name intact when going back to a previous screen. I'm all for progress, but this is slower and less functional.

When viewing "New Posts" the 'Posted Date' time and the 'Last Post' time are the same.
It was fixed for a while but it's been doing it again. The day is correct but the times are still the same. Just FYI

Don't think this has been mentioned before:

When someone attaches a file, it always shows "0 views", even when people have definitely opened it.

When you use the View First Unread thing, it used to load the page at the right place, then finish loading all the images. This would sometimes cause the text on the page to bounce around as image placeholders are replaced by the respective images. That wasn't a big deal, I'm just mentioning it. It was more of an issue for people with a low bandwidth connection.

Now, it jumps to the proper post, loads ALL the images, and then jumps to the first new post AGAIN! Hence, after I've finished reading a post or two, and scrolled down a bit, it jumps back up to the first "unread" post.

I find this annoying, and wish it was the old way.

Then again, I wish a lot of things were "the old way."

I also noticed this problem, but now discovered another incarnation, but I also took notes.

In the middle of posting a new deal, I realized that the product is widely available for less than the retail price, so my deal wasn't a deal at all. When I gave up, I clicked on "Quick Links" and it disappeared, but that's not all that changed. The page actually reloaded. Here are the differences:
User CP FAQ Members List Calendar New Posts Search Quick Links Log Out
http://forums.slickdeals.net/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=9
User CP FAQ Members List Calendar Search New Posts Mark Forums Read Open Buddy List Log Out
http://forums.slickdeals.net/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=9&nojs=1#usercptools

I assume the "nojs=1" means no javascript? (I do have js installed.) The interesting thing is that, after going back and forth between the two pages a few times (alt + left arrow, alt + right arrow), I clicked on "Quick Links" again and it worked -- without a reload.

Firefox v. 1.0.7 on WinXP.

Firefox on Windows and on Linux should behave basically identically.

If not, sounds like the perfect time to switch away from Firefox
