I live in Raleigh, NC (Zip 27606) and I really am getting tired of my $10/mo 768k line. I also have an overpriced $30/month (after all fees) home phone line from AT&T. I want to switch to MagicJack, and I wanted to know if anyone could find a DSL or Cable line that would be under $30/month forever (no promotion) and that is fairly speedy (3+ mbps). Thanks a lot.
you can get that from comcast for $20 a month + $5 modem rental but only for 12 months
i'd recommend you call your AT&T DSL retentions department and tell them exactly what you typed here. Perhaps they'll find an option for you in a higher bandwidth tier, or maybe they will lower your rediculous land line cost
Tell them the Internet connection is to slow and the landline is to costly compared to advertisements from other providers, they'll cave.

You'll definitely need a faster connection to be happy with Voip.

might need a faster connection, i have RR and pay $45mo total. but then i use the net alot for downloading etc, so i would pay that anyways. Then I dumped my landline at&t costing me $35/mo or $450yr. Added magicjack for $26yr or $2.17/mo. Also added
backup prepay cell phone (good concept/deal) and have carry over mins adding any min which renews my 1year again! Powerfail, backup and now if im out and have car trouble etc.
