We have never been to Orlando!!!!
Our trip is planned for Sept 20 - 24 (we are not flexible on dates)
we are driving from atlanta to orlando
we are a large family of 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 9,9,14,14)
4 nights 5 days
We are hoping to stay under $100 a night
we are using the universal tickets we won and a few we bought.
We have been looking but since we have never been there we are unsure what the best deals are. we WERE hoping to stay onsite to get the extra hours passes, but its seems really expensive and no rooms for our large family anyway. we need a suite so we can save on meals like bfast and late night snacking.
1 of the hotels on our list is
Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa, a Sky Hotel & Resort at $100 a night (i think they have nightly resort fees)
thanks for any help and advice!!!

You checked out the ICH thread?

You can get a 2 bedroom suite at Holiday inn Main gate universal for $93 a nite + tax (kids eat free!)
Or staybridge suites Lake Buena Vista for $75 a nite for a 2 bedroom.
Alot of suite deals there, holiday inn sunspree resort has a kidsuite for 59.99 a nite too (sleeps 4 kids in bunkbeds +2 adults in their own room)..
holiday inn with kids eat free might not be a bad idea if you are saving money as 2 of your children (the ones under 12) eat free if you dine at the hotel.

while holiday inn is usually my fav too, i would advise you to check if they charge anything extra for children accompanying you....
they usually charge extra for an a third adult sharing the room, but i dont know how it goes if its kids....

If you click on the fees before you book it shows any taxes/extra fees on that site. And when i booked one through there all those fees came through in my final price before i made the booking. So it shouldnt be any surprise when they arrive at the hotel as what they are paying has already been paid.

I will also be in Orlando with DD in about a week and a half. I took advantage of the expedia deal for 200 off coupon for booking hotel and air fair together. You can try and see if this thread can help you out at all
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=203245&t=1473585&highlight=expedia
I was able to book for two people, 2 air fare round trips with hotel for 5 nights for 350.00. TOTAL!
Staying at the sunspree resort Holiday inn. This hotel does not have free complimentary breakfast. But an adult can order breakfast buffett for 9.99 and any child un 12 can eat for free. So my dd is 12, looks much older so I'm sure they will question me on it. I'm bringing her passport for proof. lol
You do not have to use the air fare, but I would suggest you try expedia and see if u can't find a better deal that way.

Also be advised that Sunspree resort Holiday INN Orlando charges a mandatory hotel fee of 5.95 a night. I believe this is because of the “free” shuttle services they offer. When booking with expedia they do not charge this fee, you have to pay the fee directly to hotel upon check in or check out.
