Music inspired by American folk tunes, from the Civil War songs in Copland's "Lincoln Portrait," to the uplifting spirituals of Dvorak's "New World" Symphony, to the updated interpretation of American melodies found in John Williams' "Liberty Fanfare." Also, Barber's "Adagio for Strings," sometimes called the most beautiful 11 minutes of music ever written.
