Can slick deals make a section in their forums that have deals that don't need MIRS? Personally I wouldn't consider buying something cheap because I need to send in the MIR. I don't want to keep looking through the forum to find a deal that has instant savings.

Maybe I'm asking for too much. :p

Yeah, you might be right. Sometimes a deal is a slick deal because you get it extra cheap because of the mir.

We also don't want to split up the 'hot deals' section in 'very hot deals', 'kinda hot deals', 'pretty warm deals', 'luke warm deals' and 'cold deals' sections, otherwise there is no end to it.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears is a very popular kids story here in the US.

Also there are very few deals that don't included MIR, so I don't think a seperate forum would help most users. MIR are nothing to be afraid of if you follow the rules!

I can just see the section.

"guaranteed, nearly free, no mistakes, no hassles, lifetime warranty, no shipping, no tax, no limits, no expiration......."

There would be one item in there, with 100 responces about how it "didn't really match the requirements"

I do not agree with that. Sometimes, I just need a deal that most people would consider a good deal, but it would be a slick one for me. Consider a case when one ran out of DVD-R or some other media. Knowing where you can get a good inexpesive media is good. Local Best Buy Circuit city and CompUsa have, for example, DVD-R 50 pack for ~$55-70. Newegg (may be some others too) has Ritek 4X for $48. Sure, this is not a slickdeal for most people. But I need them like this week and I do not want to pay $60 + tax in local stores (I also actually do not have much time to go there). So, I think such a section would be useful. Can suggets the name for it: "Fare deals. No MIR!" Another advantage of having such a section is the folllowing. Did you ever look in the "hot deal section" There are lots of post that are not hot nor slick deals at all. A good example is http://www.slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15982 And people do get upset. No MIR section or FARE DEAL section would sort of give an idea of what is a fare/good deal and slick/hot deal. Sure, it would not have as many threads as "hot deals", which is also good. It would also take some of the thread pressure from "Hot deal" section, which would be useful as well!
We have to admit that some people do not want to deal with rebates and are willing to pay some extra for it.

Yo murzilka, if you don't think it is a slick deal then don't buy it. Everything is subject to interpretation. Not every slick deal is for you.

It seems to me that murzilka just wants a quick refference section of everyday deals. Rather than search all the sites, BB, CC Staples, OM, OD, He could come here and look at a living list.

If this was not what he wanted...I would.

In some sense you are right. Sometimes I just need to know a good everyday lowest price. If that is newegg I'll go for it. If that's a Circuit city next day I'll take it!

Sure, I agree with you and usually I do not buy it. On the other hand, I do not want to browse through lots of pages to find what I need. Sure, most people fish for the lowest price and they are fine with large rebates. In some cases I not think this is smart at all. My point is some people do not like to see the deals ~ almost regular price, but there are some people who do not want to browse a lot through MIR deals either. Making a separate section would be convenient for both parties. What do you think?

look here (http://forums.overclockersclub.com/)
see how many diffrent sections they have? I for one do not want our place to look like that... there is to much to check on... I like that all deals are in hot deals or slickdeals... so I check the lounge the most, then hot deals, and I check the others every once in a while...there are only like 10 or 15 new deals or so a day I think... but it is enough that they stay on the first page... you can also sort by thread started date to help you if you are just intrested in the deals and not the comments on them.... I think it would be too hetic to look in lots of diffrent sections. however I do understand where you are coming from... and don't let snipe get you down, he can be grumpy some times... am sure you are going to like it here...

Yep, it's messy! what can I say! What I want to see is just a few more sections. No MIR would be one of those. Alternatively, the moderators may just only post into NO MIR section and just move/copy the post from other section. The point is it can be set up nicely, without such a mess!

Well, do not be fooled by "Tallahassee, FL" I just moved here about half a year ago for research position in the National Lab. I'll probably stay here for another 1-1.5 years. Originally I am from Russia!
