Can we add a stamp for the original poster?
I would really like to know who was the original poster when a post in a thread with out having to remember who it was.
The stamp would appear when ever someone posts again in their own started threads.
It's a nice to have, so take your time and hurry up on getting that done. :whip:

Ooh, nice, I like it! Think they just barely added this!
Just noticed it and I have to say it's a cool little feature. Thanks mods/admins at SD!! :whee: Great work..always making SD a better place :D

It works for SD staff and friends/buddy list too.
It works for SD staff and friends/buddy list too.
Does it not overlap? I just tried adding junbug178 to my buddy list, and I refreshed and it didn't change. Or is it only when a buddy posts and isn't an OP?
Nevermind..added SLickCate to my buddy list to test it and it shows as a little gray F..cool!! :D

The order of preference is SD > OP > F

I agree. I like the feature, but feel the icon is too big, clunky looking. I like the lighter color that he just modifed the buddy icon to.

I thought it was cool, until I was in a few threads with several mods posting, as well as several posts from the OP.
It's really annoying, and the BFF and the SD tags are pretty redundant. This change sucketh.

...oh, and shrinking some usernames to make room for the flag really sucks too.

Summing up my comments from the lounge thread.
I would prefer it if the tabs were only for the OP...we know who our friends are and also whom the Mods are. Also it would be more visually pleasing, in MHO, if the blue were the same color as the theme border and about half the height that it is...perhaps the same size as the font for the user name and either equal distance from top and bottom or flush to the top.
Thanks for considering the suggestions.

Nice!!! I like it!
Dear Mr. SD,
As a courtesy to the other posters of slickdeals.net, hereafter to be referred to as "SD'ers," I would suggest that I get a so called 'Poster Stamp' as a fair warning to all other SD'ers that simply states: 'ASS.' Hopefully this will clear up any future confusion.
Sincerely,

May I make a suggestion? Since you've got the OP post-it tabs that alert everyone in a thread whenever the OP posts, is there any way to link all of the OP's comments within that thread into his/her post-it tab to make it functional so that if I click his post-it, all off his posts in that thread come up?
Ex: Junbug started this thread, but he's also commented in posts 4 and 25. If I were to click on his oh-so-cute post-it flag in his OP, it would bring up all of his posts in this thread. If he posted this in HD, his posts would be buried at times by the masses and may still be missed. I'm guessing that the reason for the flags is to alert the viewers that the OP has said something we might miss on the deal and we should know what it is, even if it's to pat himself on the back. (Granted, I'm thinking that the Wiki is supposed to serve that function, but since every post he makes in his own thread is going to be tagged with a blue OP post-it, I might as well make sure that I don't miss a thing.)

How to you get it to show a B? People on my friends/buddy list only show "F"..I rather have B though :D

It started as an F, they changed it to a B. You have to Control-F5 to force a refresh.

I really like the OP stamp. It does us a great service in the tech support forum. Going thru the threads there -- and having to go thru several pages, it's sometimes difficult to keep up with the OP's posts. Great idea and thanks for implementing it!!

I like it too. On a longer thread, it's nice to see when it's the OP that is still participating, and may encourage reps from latecomers on deal type threads.

Why not just add it to that menu you get when clicking on someones name,
this way it will work for any user and not just the OP.
Anyhow since this feature is not available i wrote some javascript that will do the search
on the OP for you.
Just copy and paste this to your browser address bar, or make a new bookmark using it.
javascript:{var i=1;var x=document.getElementsByTagName("div");for (;i<x.length;i++) {if (x[i].className=="user_name user_name_op") {window.open("http://forums.slickdeals.net/search.php?searchthreadid="+ document.getElementsByName("searchthreadid")[0].value+"&searchuser="+x[i].getElementsByTagName("b")[0].innerHTML+"&do=process","_self");break;}}}

I agree, I don't like the small type for users with longer names. It just doesn't look right with the normal size of the other names.
I have to admit, though, that I'm not very fond of the new OP/SD tags. I find them too large and distracting. As it is now, when I'm scrolling through posts on a thread, instead of my eye smoothly following the text of the various posts, it now gets caught on and drawn to those tags instead. Sorry, me no likey much.
I do, however, understand why people would want the OP tag (though I think the mod SD tags are redundant since they already have the mod bars). So maybe if the tags were smaller, and the color a bit paler or more faded it wouldn't be as much of a distraction. Just my $0.02 :)

It works awesome in Tech Support the way it is. I don't frequent the other sections, so hard to say if it would be distracting or not. If the other sections decide they hate it, perhaps it can be kept just for the Tech Support section.
Drop the staff icons. Otherwise I like them.

I didn't mean that they had to totally get rid of it. :) I mostly meant that I think it would look better if the OP/SD graphics weren't quite so large and bold. Maybe change it to something like this:
Smaller, lighter graphic: http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/2569/useropgraphicsmall.jpg, instead of the bigger, bolder original: http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/443/useroporiginal.jpg
That way, the OP graphic is still very distinguishable but not too 'in your face' so to speak. :)
When you have the OP posting often (such as in a lot of Lounge threads or some threads the Drugstore forums, Deal Discussion and some Hot Deals threads) it can be terribly distracting to see that larger, darker graphic repeatedly. Especially when, such as in the Lounge, mods also fairly frequently post. Then you have both the OP graphic and the SD graphic all over the page ;)

They could do it that way, but I was hoping to make their post-it flag a little more functional than just pointing out the obvious (plus I don't want to get in the cross hairs of RS or Bryant for causing more of a workload than necessary.) Baby steps, don'tcha know. :D

Hi Scampsters :)
The OP tag disappears (from the reposter) when a thread is merged
I don't like the OP tag, I think it's unnecessary and disrupting. After reading this thread I see there are people who like the OP tag. Why not make it a preference instead of mandatory? Something like check here to "enable original poster graphic"
I'm used to OP as in operator not original poster. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. I think the highlighting is sufficient and the tag is overdone.
