Has anyone noticed any deals on kids' glasses? Seems to me I saw promotions like that last year around back-to-school time. Kid just had her physical and we found out she needs glasses.

you can find a place nearby that gives cheap eye exams like americas best...and i think i heard pearle vision was giving $20 eye exams unless that was just a special, then go to zennioptical.com to order the glasses. You can order a pair for less than $15 on that site if you're not picky...lol

Hmm ... $20 exams? May have to look into that. I don't want to go cheap on an eye exam, but we're already scheduled at a similar kind of place so I might as well see if we have that deal here. (I spent an hour on the phone yesterday after her physical and couldn't get in anytime soon at the eye doctors that were recommended to us, or anywhere else that wasn't at an eyeglass store, so I just went with the very first thing I could get so the kid can have some glasses in time for school. I want her to be able to see what the teacher is writing in the front of the room. Plan to find a good pediatric ophthalmologist for the next exam.)
I'd happily order from zennioptical for me but want to go somewhere B&M for her so we can be sure on the measurements etc.

Yeah i can understand wanting the fit to be right for a child. If there is an americas best near you, you could also try them. The one by me accepts walk ins and you can get 2 pairs of glasses with an eye exam for about $70. The site is twopair.com

Wow, great deal! None near me though.
Thanks for all the ideas!

I just bought some for my 5 year old from Walmart. $38 for the frames, scratch resistant lenses, and a 1 year warranty on the frames breaking (if you're under 18 years old.) The took 5 days to come in and I am very happy with the glasses. They had about 25-30 different frame colors/styles to pick from for $9.

Wow -- what was the total with the lenses?

DH got a pair of sunglasses from zenni optical and brought them to our friend (our opthomalogist) and she was impressed by how good of a job they did. Just call the eye doc and get the measurements you need from the script and use it for a spare pair. Totally worth it, and you can bring them to your eye doc to have them double checked.

It was $9 for the frames and $29 for the scratch resistant lenses. So, a total of $38 and that includes the 1 year warranty on the glasses.
