i have to be at nashville for one weekend and gainesville the next weekend. so i have about 5 to 7 days.
are there any good places to visit in these places? i looked at wikitravels but it seems like besides nashville, memphis, there arent much to see in sc and tn..
i plan to take a grey hound but maybe i should rent a car?? any suggestions on where to go and cheap/convienent ways to get around?
thanks!

Gainesville is literally nothing but the University of Florida. The surrounding areas? Sure, within say 40-50 miles you can find plenty, but Gainesville itself kinda blows.

hmm..
i think car rental would be good at 250 (any price better than this for a week?)
gives me more flexibility than grey hound.
arent there national parks there (there is some chattahhoohee river at sc)

In Gainesville, I think the Ocala National Forest is a short distance away and maybe a couple others, but I don't know.
As for Tennessee, the Pidgin Forge area is a huge tourist trap, err, attraction. They have everything most tourists would want. It's like the state fair, all year long.
As for SC, I am not sure. Only time I've spent there was on my way through the state. Never liked SC for some reason.
