My palm centro just broke, i am looking to upgrade.
The best phone my local sprint dealer can offer is HTC Snap, it doesnt have wifi
.
He called sales department of sprint and confirmed that blackberries, touch pro 2, palm pres are not allowed on a non-Everything data plan.
I am looking for a smartphone with wifi and a good OS. any suggestions?

The Touch Pro 2 is allowed on SERO! Some people are also able to get Blackberries to work. As far as I know, the Instinct and the Palm Pre are the only ones that don't work with SERO.
That being said, I'm the current owner of a Palm Centro and the only phone I'm considering giving up my Centro for is the Touch Pro 2. The only thing I don't like about the TP2 is that the camera doesn't have flash. Otherwise, it looks awesome.

SERO rate plans are NOT compatible with the Samsung Instinct,® HTC Hero™ or the Palm® Pre™.

I got told by a sprint person that the touch pro 2 is not allowed on SERO. but it's a business phone... there has to be a way around it.

blackberry. it is possible but requires patience and persistence. IMHO it is by far the best value in wireless at $30 a month, plus mark my words, next year when winmo 7 comes out, SERO will not be allowed on winmo 7.

Agreed. Getting a blackberry to work isn't as easy as something like a touch pro, since you've got to call in the activation. The rep you talk to may be confused that you don't have a blackberry plan, but you do not need one to get your data plan/etc working on it. Without the blackberry-specific data plan, the web browser will be disabled (though you can fix that), and you won't be able to use push email from them, or the blackberry messenger (to the best of my knowledge). To get the web browser working, all you need to do is install the service book for it, which can be found with a bit of googling.

What sprint person? Of course Touch Pro 2 is allowed on any plan. I just added one to an existing SERO, it was $319 and they gave me a $70 resigning bonus, no activation charges and no shipping. They made a note on my account to credit me the rebate amount if there was any problem.
Sprint lost more customers than ever in the quarter they launched the Pre (June July and August). They are very hungry.

I just went on to the website and it got it done. It was easy. The touch pro 2 is allowed on SERO. Sprint gained a lot of customer from the any mobile any time thing. I know a guy that works at a local franchise sprint store. He's been very very happy lately with his sales records :P

I don't have SERO but an old grandfathered plan that's just as good and I was also told I can't get a Blackberry.
Could I buy one on my own and get it activated? or should I buy it directly through sprint? Is one able to use apps and all other functions?

BB has its own email server and stuff, so go for other phones.
