Theres the Pioneer 819 for around 250 at various places. It was around 250 on Amazon too with free shipping and no tax but they raised it to 279 recently. The 919 was as low as 350 on Amazon briefly but now I think its 390 or so.
Though a lot of people like the 819 a few people on AVS claim they noticed a slight degradation in the picture quality via the HDMI connect on the 819 which they dont see on the 919 and 1019.
Check the Hot Deals forums too there always seems to be some post about a deal on the Denon, Yamaha, Onkyos in that price range. The cheapest deals are the open box, refurb deals usually on a Onkyo or some other make at Newegg, Onkyos website or some other seller like eCost.

It's now $230 shipped from NewEgg. See here:

Yeah the 819 is supposed to have a few slight issues.
The Pioneer VSX519 on the other hand for around $190 most places is a fantastic deal in that it actually will take the audio through HDMI to your speakers.
Only 2 HDMI but it also has 2 component.
If money isn't an issue, you might also consider the Pioneer 919 or 1019 as mentioned above. Though they are 7.1 systems, you can still run them as a 5.1 setup if that's your preference. Later, you'll also have the ability to add a couple more speakers and do 7.1, if desired ... food for thought.
