will they send u bill after 1 year
They will not. I'm actually a teacher (and NEA member) and I got the same thing last year. The Economist is an excellent magazine, and after I read it, I bring it to my high-school, where it becomes a resource for students.
It's unlikely that they'll continue to offer free subscriptions to actual teachers if this keeps getting abused, though.
Do us a favor: if you're actually going to read it, great - but at least donate the issues to a local high-school so others can benefit, too, okay?

A while back there was a post about a price mistake at officedepot or something where they had accidentally listed a case of toilet paper for the price of a single roll. I jumped on the bandwagon. As soon as the office depot folks realized what was happening they just modified the listing and didn't acknowledge the mistake or anything. I remember one guy put up a long post about how he was going to sue them. I could of called and canceled but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Eventually I got a box from UPS with a single roll of toilet paper in it, cost me like $8 I think. I kept it on my dresser for a while as a reminder to avoid mistake deals in the future - there are slick deals and there are slippery slope deals. Integrity is priceless.

The Economist is a great magazine and is always current with their news, with great writers. I've subscribed twice in the past, once by paying, and once thru Continental FF miles.
Does anyone know how to redeem your airline miles for magazines? Last time I did it, it was because the airline sent me a letter in the mail with ways to redeem my miles, and Economist was one of the selections. But I have never received any recent mailing like this...
Nevermind, just looked at my emails from Continental Re: miles and there are links that show how to redeem. Tx...

It was up to 9,000 on the last mags for miles (or maybe it was my hotel onePass card). Bug jump from the last time.
PS - With a magazine sub, they provide a great audio book version of each episode for download!

That wasn't that bad...must be the hour. Can't these deals at least come with good web designers?
The site is too slow. How is this supposed to work? Pay X for membership and save on magazines? Better than student/teacher deals? or just better than list?

What a load of rubbish.
Seems to me you must be far, far right to be calling the Economist a "far, far left propaganda piece".
How can a magazine that advocates for free trade and globalization be far, far left? What kool aid are you drinking? A little too much Rush Limbaugh maybe? The magazine is mainly in the center, and depending on the context, center left or center right.

What are you smoking?? The Economist approaches world events and domestic policy from a Free Market/Libertarian point of view. You would know that if you had actually read it. I know, there aren't many pictures and there are lots of words and stuff in there, but it's OK...it won't hurt you.

> Its journalists' anonymity - all articles but its 14-page surveys are unsigned - suggests to outsiders a coherent, single-minded group. Wrong. Its then foreign editor fiercely supported the Vietnam war; his man in Paris was a Trot. Views on the Middle East, say, are as divided today. Many of its journalists, as I was, are to the left of the paper. But in 36 years barely ever can I recall political divisions becoming personal.
...
> Politically, The Economist sees itself as of the radical centre. Radical right, snort its foes, citing not just its fundamentalist free-marketry but its ardent philo-Americanism and its old views on Vietnam or Pinochet, and, recently, Iraq.
> In part, that is unfair. In 1914, its then editor denounced entry to The Great War. In the 1930s, it was anti-Nazi from the start, as much of the right was not. It condemned Eden's 1956 Suez folly.

Don't let him bother you. Everyone moral is going opposite road of the republicans. The republicans call it going left; and they like saying that word but it just divides people. Republicanism absolutely bush-whacked in last years election and the only way for them to get out of the immorality of their representatives is to create a new party which seems to be the Libertarianism.
The publicans have a very bad image; Limbaugh and O'Reilly are actually making the image of republicans worst. The most popular shows among the newer to mid generation of people are JS Daily Show and the Colbert report (Hulu.com reports this too). Not to mention the #1 downloaded podcast from Real Time (HBO).
Those who are angry are angry over nothing but their selfishness & hypocrisy (aka. "The fiction and the blasphemy of Fox News").
