I'm confused :( (But what's new, right? )
It says grand opening of the Black Friday 2009 forum, but I can't find it or any info in the OP on how to get there (or what date it starts if it isn't open yet)
Someone hold my hand and walk me through it

I don't think it's up yet. Surely they're not waiting till the contest is over to open it.
Entries can be as creative as you want, but they must be PG13 and conform to our image rules.
Remember boys and girls, they must be PG-13. No G or PG entries, please.

Ok, so we're just re-using the same forum and moving all the 2008 stuff to the BF archive. Works for me. I checked it earlier, but the name hadn't been changed yet. Thanks.

can the picture be edited to include BOTH a lit, and unlit picture of the pumpkin in the same jpeg?? I don't see why not, but I don't want to be disqualified.
thanx,

You can submit more than one photo of your pumpkin, it just has to be the same pumpkin :)

Only one entry per person, please. A group of pumpkins that create a theme can be submitted as one entry. You can choose to have your entry lit or unlit. Once an entry is submitted, it can not be changed.
I guess I was just thrown off by this statement. I just assumed "one entry per person" and "lit or unlit" in the same statement meant only one picture.
well, either way...SD might get THREE pics from me. One lit, one unlit, and one combined.
wish me luck. (I never win anything! LOL!)

Also, I can't PM anyone because I just made this account... If I had been aware that you needed such privlieges, I would have made the account earlier, but I didn't know.

PEOPLE JOINING JUST TO WIN STUFF!!!!!????
They can't even REP people for goodness sake!!!
Talk about being used!!! Lurking, letting everyone else do the work, then signing up just to get free SD stuff. I know we sometimes do this to OTHER sites...but NOT to SlickDeals!!!

I think a lot of people have lurked for a long time...my DH has looked at this site (and purchased many posted slickdeals = $$$ for this site) as long as I have, but he's never been a member until recently...so I don't think it's fair to say that people are just participating for the prizes...plus if they carve a pumpkin that rocks, they deserve to win.

I respectfully DISAGREE.
If they are lurking...they AREN'T contributing. PERIOD. Then they join just because they get ANOTHER chance to get stuff from SD without even so much as a useful REPLY to a thread. At least the REAL members have enough respect to "give back" to the site that supplys us with such good deals.
Good pumpkins or not...I think there should be a minimum requirement. Wether it be post count or a minimum time spent as a member. Like I said before...if they can't even give a rep...they darn sure shouldn't be able to get so much as a t-shirt before a "REAL" member does.

Are you familiar with the concept of affiliate marketing?
Lurkers certainly do contribute to this site more than you recognize.
And I agree with the other person, you are taking this way too seriously.
Besides the big prize is decided upon by the mods, not by the popular vote. The person that won last year had very few posts, yet the mods saw it fit for him to win. It was a great pumpkin too.

What some people don't get is for every lurker/new member that clicks on a deal or link, SD gets paid. What do you think keeps this site running? Mr.SD doesn't front the costs himself. Regardless of anything SlickDeals is a business and as long as people are buying, they are helping SlickDeals. IMO

So, I guess if a lurker ever found a great deal that would benefit everyone, INCLUDING SLICKDEALS, (through clicks) and didn't bother to post it due to the fact that THEY AREN'T A MEMBER...
BAH! WHO CARES? I stand corrected. Nevermind.
I'm taking off my "serious hat" and leaving the thread quietly.
