Not trying to offend anyone but it would be a slick deal for us if you upgraded you slickdeals.net server so we didn't always get the server busy message. It is highly annoying.

Connection has nothing to do with it. Slckdeals has outgrown its current set up. Time to calll the Help desk at IBM.

Never had a problem here either...
Slickdeals can sometimes be a tad slow to load compared to other forums, but never any disconnect problems

gotta be your connection

Some of my friends browse on SD, and they are guests. I have seen them get this error a few times..

I guess, SD gives preference to members when it comes to resource sharing on the server........ :woot:

I get it all the time also, quite annoying I must say. And I am on a corporate T3 pipe...

It took me about 5-6 refreshes to finally get registered, but I used to get a server busy thing all the time and I am on a T1. Don't seem to be having problems now though.

Yeah, I've gotten it a few times. But you're not the one paying for it, so why are you requesting? Upgrading a server is expensive

Notice you said "corporate". Still can be your connection or firewall or anything else the IT people have in the backroom...

:iagree: I always had wait for 2-5 seconds before next search but that to save bandwidth.

It has absolutely nothing to do with my connection which is broadband by the way. I can tell that this message is from the slickdeals website. I'm glad most of you don't get this message but I've been getting it extremely frequently the last week or so and about 50% of the time today. See attached image for screenshot since you all don't seem to believe me.

Saw this message during BF last year a couple times, have never seen it during 2005. Woot.com needs a better server much more than Slickdeals IMHO. It's not that we don't believe you, it's just that 99% of us are not seeing the message as much as you are. Sorry you are having problems. What steps have you taken to try and resolve the problem? Are you using a Mac or PC? Internet Explorer? FireFox? Opera? I mean you have tried more than one web browser right?

I have gotten this error numerous times. Your connection speed i doubt has anything to do with it. I am currently on a T3. Below is a screenshot for those of you that have never run across this error. Just to let you know.

Mr. SD recently upgraded the server. IIRC, it was last month. And I've never gotten a "busy signal" while access this board. Acctually, it's only when the server gets upgraded or repaired late at night.

I've rarely had an issue with the server. But it's FREE to me, so when I do have an issue, instead of complaining, I feel happy for the times I get it.

ok, ok it happens, we know. are you gonna help chip in for a dedicated server?

Something I noticed - in both screen shots, the user was not logged in. Try that. You have an account - use it. I bet you'll get far fewer messages then.

I personally haven't gotten a message like that since BF 04.

Haha, I just tried coming in to read this thread, and got the "server busy now" message 8 times before I was able to get in. It does seem that signed-in members are getting preference with pageviews.

fingers crossed for a smooth upgrade.

I occasionally get the message. Usually during peak hours or site upgrades. It is not really a problem to me though.

I've gotten the server busy error message several times -- but then I'm always on SD.

BTW, I'd definitely pay to be a member if it meant some upgrades...but only if I could get a discount on a 5 or 10 year paid membership. :lmao:

Maybe I've slickdealed myself down into accepting less than other people do, but I can't think of any real upgrades I'd want.

My computer at work clears its cookies/cache every night...So when I open up forums.slickdeals.net in the morning I'll sometimes see the "server is busy" message but it goes away as soon as I log in. I think you will have less problems when you are logged in.

Server busy messages show up for guests only.

Upgrades are in the works for awhile now. Just need to find a new home for the servers.

First off, I don't appreciate the flames. Not that I care that my stupid reputation points are lower now. Apparently some people here aren't able to logically process this situation.

It isn't like a free website with 70K+ members is a total loss. This is called the internet and last time I checked there are banners here that I click by the way which is probably more than most of you can say.

I'm happy the servers are being upgraded but I was just trying to point something out as a service in case no one knew about this yet.

Maybe it's the way you posted your message, with an air of entitlement and demanding that offended or angered some regulars. Referral links also generate money, so get off the horse buddy.
