Looking for a point and shoot camera with the following features (in order of importance):

1. Extra Wide angle lens - The wider the better
2. Great Picture Quality
3. Ability to shoot HD video

I am not so worried about price but more features and quality. I already have a Canon 40d for my serious photography but would like something smaller for everyday use.

Thank you in advance.

The best value for money with these constraints is Panasonic DMC-FZ35K http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=PSDMCFZ35K&id=PSDMCFZ35K

Thanks for the recommendation. However, I am looking for something more pocket size.

Hi
I am a amateur Photographer who wants to upgrade from a Sony Cyber-shot to an SLR. I have narrowed down my research on Cannon XSi rebel. I need some expert comments whether this model is value for money or within the same budget better models will be available like Nikon D-60 or D-3000.
Anyone who can share a good deal available on the camera.

I had posed a question about a digital camera, http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1655879

and after getting the information, I purchased sd780 and A1100 with the deal at Staples.

the reason I bought both.

The Canon SD780; is good for HD video and has a wider lens than A1100. It has a rechargeable li battery too. I haven't had the chance to test it thoroughly because it is on order. but I read much about it. It is on sale now at walmart for $199. But the advantage that staples had was they included a $50 gift card and their $25 coupon.

The A1100, I liked it much, but it doesn't have hd video and the lens is not as wide as sd780. It does use AA bateries though and that is why I bought it, probably give to my son.

you might want to hold on getting sd780 as it probably will be reduced in price by some retailers, but I don't know for sure.

XSi is a better camera than both D60 and D3000, but it does cost a bit more than those 2. So it really depends on your budget. However, at around 500 dollars price point, XSi is well worth it.

One thing about the entry level Nikon DSLR like D40, D60, D3000 is, you are forced to choose the AF-S lenses if you need autofocus with your lens, and if you want to use some of the older lens, eg. 50mm f/1.8 you are restricted to manual focus.

It just come down to what you want to do with your camera and what you shoot normally. (Portrait, landscape, birdies, sports) and your budget ( staying at entry level or upgrade to the semi professional level).
