Update and clarification of SD "requesting rep points" rule needed?
When an OP includes in the OP of a thread(and subsequently in the same thread) to "REP THE OP" when you like the deal, is this not considered analagous to requesting reps? There was some disagreement between an OP who used this tactic on an earlier post and a veteran SDer and the post seems to have been closed before the issue was conclusively resolved.
I understand the OP's effort to point out he was asking on the behalf of all OP's, but when he was the OP that would be interpreted as requesting rep points by most.
So, I also understand the stance of those who have a problem with this tactic.
I don't play the "my reps are bigger than your reps" game, but realize that periodically, some have felt compelled to request them from the SD community.
I know I am in good company with my policy of never repping those who ask to be repped, and sometimes the 'grey areas' are tested until clarification of just where the line lies.
Therefore, I would find it somewhat humorous, yet ironic at the same time, if one were to receive a rep point for attempting to clarify what they perceive to be an issue that requires further clarification in order to avoid future problems (joke! I don't need no stinkin' rep points).
