Sharing permission perhaps? Try adding "Everyone" into the list of share user and give it read access

Make sure when you share your folder that you have shared to Everyone. Also be sure that Full Control - Allow is selected in Advanced Sharing.

Hey, I have a similar problem. I connected the 42LH50 to my WRT160nl router, which has a Western Digital 1.5TB hard drive attached. I created a shared file on the WD and gave it all rights. The TV can see the file, but when it tries to open it, I get the same error message you got. This is driving me crazy!. The interesting thing is that I also have a desktop and a wireless laptop connected to the router, and the TV can get into those shared files with no problem.
I'm hoping you figured out what the solution was. Or anyone out there please help me with this, thanks in advanced.

OP, what OS is hosting the shared folders?

Hey, thanks for the response. I created the shares through the Linksys GUI (in the storage tab). The WRT160NL has Linux as its OS. I gave the shares rights as guest and as administrator. My notebook and desktop can get into the shares, but not the TV (LG 42LG50).

Really sounds like a problem with the TV's implementation of CIFS/SMB. I'd call LG.
