I called into Comcast to try & get the 12mbs or 16 Mb Internet Data for $19.99.
Since I have Comcast Double Play (Internet + Voice) they refused & insisted it was only for New Customers for 6 Months.

However the Rep told me that I was eligible for
$29.99 High Speed Internet [Performance] for 6 Months.
Then after 6 Months it would go back to my 'Double Play Performance Internet Rate' ($43)

I was also told that they have the Regular (Economy) Internet for $19.99 [For Existing Customers]

:bulb: ---> My Technique :D
I called 1 866 565 4863
Verify your Account / Phone Number --
Then choose CANCEL/MOVE Option [#4] -- Then DISCONTINUE [#3].

Explain your interested in lowering your bill & know someone who got the promo for $__...
Tell them that it was NOT via an online Comcast affiliate & they were an Existing customer & they spoke to a Comcast Rep.

Another Possible Method Here (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=26585083&postcount=20)

It's 16MBs rather than 12mbs [varies by location!?]..

EDIT
$29.99 or as low as $19.99 -- YMMV depending on CSR [Length of promo may vary as well - from 6 to 12 Months] ---> VERIFIED by 100s of USERS NATIONWIDE! --but as always Ymmv

~~~~~~~~~~~
--EDIT 08/12/10 --
My Promo was supposed to end in July initially , then it was extended till August. Now Comcast just told me I'll be on the SAME Promo till NOVEMBER :woot:
They are Rolling Over PROMO's due to the recession & many customers will be able to Retain their original promo till "we are out of this recession" ...
just FYI for those of you who expect to have a Promo ending soon or another point to bring up if you are currently being Overcharged by Comcast.
And if you want to Inquire about your account / lower your bill --> When you call be sure to pick Cancellation / Disconnect Dept from the Automated System.
Thanks for posting, but this has been discussed in the following thread:
Also, it's actually better to use Comcast chat in order to get the discount, as people have been denied by the phone. Chat takes less than five minutes.
I talked to local Comcast Office , Online Chat & Tried regular a CSR Rep. [1800-Comcast]
All DENIED ME the Offer & told me I was NOT ELIGIBLE for ANY discounts.
One even told me I would get the same answer from every other Rep I talk to. [ that I would be ineligible for discounts]
The method stated above was the only one that worked. & believe it or not It was going to be my last attempt. :D
I was in the same boat for the past two weeks. It's crazy how hard it can be to get a promotion, yet some people seem to get it no problem, every time. I tried your method last week and got all the way to the actual cancellation because they wouldn't budge. I ended up just hanging up at the last minute and tried chat today and it worked.
If you don't have Comcast @ all, they have a variety of Promos.
$19.99 for Performance /or/ Regular Internet speeds -- NEW Customers
You can also sign up via Various affiliates & get cashback etc. -- check online reviews of Affiliate before you choose this option.
edit-
[B]I believe its 16MBS+ w/ 'POWER BOOST' -- rather than 12Mbs.
but The plan is known as Performance Internet to Comcast
Yep. I've been making the same argument about there being not enough competition in the broadband market for many years. Until just recently, I used to have people disagreeing with me and saying that low population is the reason prices are so high and speeds so low. Now there's a general consensus that there are informal agreements between the likes of Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast not to compete too much in each other's territories and to keep prices high outside of the usual 6-month promotions.
They key is to make them believe as if you're actually canceling. They're not going to easily nudge if you simply call in and ask for a discount.
^Typically the price is valid for 6 Months.
They may extend your promo price if you call in around that time. [end of 6 month period]
^ Depends how you sign up.
You will have to pay a modem rental fee ($3.50) -- Unless you have your own modem] & most online affiliates waive Installation costs. You may also be required to make the 1st months payment [I don't remember exactly, I've had Comcast for a while] :ohmy:
Nothing lasts forever with comcast. Be prepared to call every six months and tell them you need to cancel your service. Then negotiate for what you can get... if it isn't good enough, decline and call again.
If your calling loyalty be firm yet calm (while arguing) :cool:
You may have to ask for the $19.99 promo ... then they'll tell you its for New Customers
Then ask if there is anything at a similar price point that they CAN OFFER.
[don't ask if you'll be eligible, they will simply say NO]
If you feel comfortable try using a sympathetic approach /and or / LIE ;)
Try Comcast Online Chat [I was shot down today, BUT I've had luck with it before getting a promo]
Just called and it worked for me in Tucson, AZ.
I only have the 6mb Hi-speed internet. They offer 1, 6, and 8 in my area.
So I went from 42$ a month to 30$.
I called COMCAST, chose "discontinue/downgrade", then "discontinue".
Talked to a rep, told her that I wanted to lower my bill and that I saw adds for 20$ and that I know someone who got a lower rate "30$". She goes on about how they just don't throw out promos or discounts, I then asked about downgrades and then said that I was probably gonna cancel and that's when she offered the 30$ a month deal.
Thanks OP.
I pay $144 now, the chat rep offered me $139 if I add a phone.... no deal!
my response to the chat rep:
"Landline technology is dead. Maybe you can also throw in a VHS player and cassette deck too. why do you people always try to push another service on to customers, this does not help them, this keeps the price the same!"
Next Step... Cancel my current service and sign-up in my wife's name?
I work for Comcast in Northeast PA. I usually try to throw out some info when I see these threads.
Im a door-to-door guy, so I cant say anything first hand about people that you talk to on the phone, but I can say that Ive seen other peoples interactions, and they are very inconsistant. If you get a no from someone, call back to get someone different.
My sales team doesnt work with current customers, only non-customers. I can say that new deals have sprung up all over in the last week, presumably due to the new Year. We just got some pretty bad-ass promos ourselves, but again, they are for non-customers only. I wont gob up the thread with all the info. If anyone in PA that DOESNT have Comcast and wants the info , shoot me a message, ill help you as best as I can. I can pretty much guarentee we can beat the competition with our triples.
Best way to do these things is look for door-to-door guys. If you can find them, chances are you can get free install on your services. When you call up, they charge you a fee for every service they install. That would be something to keep in mind. However, there arent door to door guys in every market. Before you ask, no, I have no way of finding out where they are. I tried to find out a while back for this same reason, and was basically told to worry about my own market. Sorry Fellers!
I'm in an area where 12mps w/ power boost isn't available yet. So I was offered 15.00 off my bill for 6 months because I told them my friend a few miles down the road (who does have 12mpsw/ pb, got in on the 29.99 deal ) and I was stuck paying more for less!
Yay! for nice reps!
I'm in central NJ, and I call them every 6 months for discounts. Usually I'll get 29.99 or 32.99.... but sometimes i've gotten 19.99... all for 6 month periods. I threaten to move to FIOS everytime.... Which isn't an empty threat on my end now that FIOS is available here. Half my neighbors have already left comcast for FIOS, so they know they're losing customers.
I called legitimately complaining about my d/l speeds being so bad that if I didn't get a service discount, then I may as well just drop Comcast altogether for DSL. CSR offered $30/mo for Performance package (supposed to be 15mb down, but is typically less than 5mb) for 6mos. I guess that's better than nothing...
I can't get comcast internet just cable because comcast isn't allowed to provide internet here (I don't know why to be honest, but they're prohibited from doing so).
I have AT&T internet... its like $40 per month for 5 or 6mbps. I would love it if there was some competition here for them cause I hate AT&T :(
A few months back I read if you threaten to close the account they give u discounts... I tried it and the lady I was talking to was like, "ok when would you like us to disconnect it?" I was like "I'll look at some other companies and let you know." But I never called back =/
Try canceling for a week or two. Odds are if you actually go through with the cancel they will give you the promo.
I know for me i call everytime my promo ends to get on another promo. I say I'm going to cancel for pricing reasons and they offer the next promo for me.
Most of the time they say this is a one time offer but I've been on 3 one time offers so far so....
If you don't have Comcast @ all, they have a variety of Promos.
$19.99 for Performance /or/ Regular Internet speeds -- NEW Customers
You can also sign up via Various affiliates & get cashback etc. -- check online reviews of Affiliate before you choose this option.
comcast..... I live here in Southaven/MS and they are charging me $59.95 for "Performance" - my download speed is about 800 kb/s (i believe i have the 12Mb or 16Mb w/ powerboost)
The guy who got internet and phone for 12 months sounds perfect. I'm moving un 30 days to a rental... hope to be there only a year and then buy a house so this would be perfect.
QUESTION... I work from home and spend good part of time on conference calls thus why I need a landline phone. Is Comcast phone a VOIP? I had Vonage before for phone and it sucked cause if i was downloading or uploading (mostly) it messed up my call... it compressed 2-3 seconds of me talking into about a second... If you have heard it before you know what I am talking about.
I cant get ATT for local phone so I have to go Comcast or pay thru the nose to get som other local people.
If you will live there for more than 20 months and stay with Comcast, buy the modem
Or buy any other docsis 2.0 compatible cable modem. Won't they all work ? 2.0 would be sufficient for these speeds, and they sell for ~ $20 on eBay.
we are currently using at&t and want to switch over to comcast if this 19.99 deal is good around here.
and my question is, we dont have any other service with comcast, is that going to be a problem? i always see that there will be installations fees or other fees. so if i do decide to get comcast, how much am i looking at to get this service started?
Call 1-800-COMCAST, select "Disconnect" and "Disconect" and then just tell them that you just saw your bill which is a lot and want to lower your bill. My friends have it for 20/mo from Comcast and ATT. So I was wondering if you have a better deal for me, as I 60/mo is a lot.
They gladly offered me 29.99 for 12mbps speed for 6 months right away and asked to take a survey call which I gladly accepted. I had 6mbps speed earlier.
That was one of the easiest pricing modifications I've ever done. I logged onto chat and was immediately offered $24.99 for 6 months after I requested the $19.99 package, but as is listed here, that price is for new customers only. We've been on the 16 Mb/s Boost package for quite awhile, so we are downgrading by 4 Mb/s but that's really not noticeable unless you are streaming a lot of videos.
I just cut my monthly nearly in half so we're all good here!
My neighborhood was one of the first FiOS neighborhoods .... 80% of my neighbors have already left comcast for verizon FiOS. I think that's the only reason why I got the $20 deal as an existing customer.
IMO this is BAD pub for comcast. =P
Most of us don't have "better" deals to turn to or are too lazy to upgrade everything to FiOS (ahem... me) ... and would've stuck with Comcast for the hell of it.
So, let's see... say on average every SD user who got the deal saves $90. By now, at least 20 people have repped the deal.... that's $2k down the drain for comcast.
Long time lurker, first time posting.
I work for comcast, I only take calls from the New England Market, This looks like a deal from Retention Dept. Just tell the rep you want to cancel all your services and they will send you to them. In some markets a potential new ustomer can say they want to switch from Direct TV or Dish Network to get some unadvertised offers. its a YMMV thing though. also, getting a 12 or 24 month contract is the way to go for the best rates, but it is a contract. Personally, if you live in a FiOS market, we cant touch their speed and prices.
edit: we started the DOCSIS 3.0 New England rollout on Jan 12th.
I'm receiving about 3 calls a week from Verizon to switch to FiOS..... this comcast dude is right. FiOS is faster and cheaper. Comcast's regular prices can't compete.
The main reason why I'm not switching is because, once you go FiOS it's hard to switch back. They physically come in and replace your phone lines.
I wonder if the CSR reps are frustrated with all the people that want to "CANCEL" Comcast today :nod: :lol:
I'm in central NJ, and I call them every 6 months for discounts. Usually I'll get 29.99 or 32.99.... but sometimes i've gotten 19.99... all for 6 month periods. I threaten to move to FIOS everytime.... Which isn't an empty threat on my end now that FIOS is available here. Half my neighbors have already left comcast for FIOS, so they know they're losing customers.
So, why don't YOU grow a pair and LEAVE???
Just got out of chat and was told that I can't get a discount/promotion on my internet because I have either phone or cable through them. Kinda sounds backwards to me, but who am I? I was told to call 800-266-2278 x54097 to downgrade/cancel my service. BTW, I am in Lancaster, PA.
Interesting...I tried chat (2 separate times) this weekend. On Saturday I got Standard Cable for $29.99 (down from $59.70 and free HBO for 6 months, plus Digital classic for 7 something (down from $16.95) for 12 months. Cost me $1.99 to make the change. On Sunday I got HSI for $24.95 (down from $42.95) for 6 months. I'm in Reading.
Normally I call but I've been getting nowhere for the past year, so I tried chat. Took a while, but it appears to be worth it.
Make SURE you are getting a DOCSIS 3 modem, Then for sure BUY it...Comcast CLAIMS they will have 50 mbps available EVERYWHERE by the end of 2010...If you get the right modem, soon you will notice a blue light for the first time, and you will be getting the 50 mbps! I'm on 10/2Mbps FiOS right now and they just bumped me to $52.99/mo from $47.99/mo that I was on last year ($39.99/mo for 2 years prior to that). So, it seems 12/2 (or 16/2) Mbps for $20-30/mo is going to be a great deal (that is if I can get free modem and installation). Question to existing customers: does Comcast allow to pay the bill online in small (say $2) increments?
You can get your "installation fee" waived as well. They asked for 100 dollars but if you ask the reps agree to a few transfers they can waive off the one time fee to about 20 dollars. Also this 30 dollar deal can go up to one year. Insist on one year and a low installtion fee because thats the deal they gave me.
Definitely! I am now using Visa prepaid cards received for rebates, to pay my Comcast HSI bills. I have paid as little as 17 cents to zero one card. Lessons learned:
1) I was clearly speaking to someone who speaks English as their primary language
2) I apparently need to wait 4 months (I'm 3 months out of my $19.99 promo) before I can be "availed" another promo.
3) Comcast chat reps will put you on hold for 20 minutes, but are rather quick to boot you out the door.
Some countries have it much worse than us, too. Australia, for example.
I'd be tempted to try to get this from Comcast, but my biggest issue is the monthly transfer quota more than speed. Faster speeds would just mean I'd run the risk of hitting the monthly limit earlier in the month.
Tip about attempting to cancel, I have done this twice. When you get to the cancellation/retention dept, say you want to cancel on this day in the future, like end of the month. Explain the bill is too high etc, and act like you want it to be set to cancel at the end of billing period or something. They will usually offer something at this point, I have always taken the offer then. But I heard if you refuse, and say the offer is not good enough, they may call you back later with a better one. If you waited a few days and nothing happens, you can always call back and tell them you have decided to stay.
x.x It almost worked for me but I guess I need to keep trying. I was doing the live chat and first analyst told me yes 19.99 the deal for 6 months and I clearly asked to make sure it was a stand-alone promo with no other services needed for new customers. And he replied yes nothing else is needed. Then when transferred to the sales department the new guy was like noooo, that previous analyst didn't know anything about the plans. Then he went on ranting about the terms and conditions thing saying I needed a either phone or cable first for it. Then talked about it being a system restriction thing.
I'm from the Chicago area but I guess I got to try a few more times hoping I get it since I look through the thread and seen were able to for this deal.
What process did others that are from the Chicago area used? (Want to finally get rid of AT&T DSL)
You better double check that your promotion period is for 6 rather than 12 months. While chatting with a rep tonight I was notified that my deal was good for only 6 months when rep that signed me up told me 12. Luckily I saved my chat transcript so I'll be phoning Comcast tomorrow to let them hear about it. :yummy:
Yep. I've been making the same argument about there being not enough competition in the broadband market for many years. Until just recently, I used to have people disagreeing with me and saying that low population is the reason prices are so high and speeds so low. Now there's a general consensus that there are informal agreements between the likes of Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast not to compete too much in each other's territories and to keep prices high outside of the usual 6-month promotions.
Well also don't forget your local government aiding & abetting to creat this monopolies too.
I am sick &tire of the local township agreeing to gratn only 1 license to 1 cable company becausethey promise to upkeep the asphalt that they dig up to lay their lines.
The next time I vote the local board in, it better have an agenda for opening up competition!
Between SB5100 and SB5120, which one will you choose? Not for the price. For the quality and easy to config.
They are essentially identical. The SB5120 ships with a speed enhancement feature called turbodox enabled, while the SB5100 ships with it disabled. Both are identical in hardware with this exception. Comcast overrides this setting during installation and either enables it or disables it for both. So there is no reason to pick one over the other for Comcast.
in san francisco, comcast only offered me $25 bucks for 1mb and $42.95 for 12mb. i asked if there was something in between like 6mb they said no but it seems like some of you are getting 6mb deals. this company is SHADY BUSINESS.
It's not shady business. In DOCSIS 3.0 areas (such as where you live, San Francisco), the speed tiers available are 1mbps, 12 mbps (15 w/ powerboost), 16mbps (20 w/ powerboost), 22mbps (30 w/ powerboost), and 50mbps. Other people here who live in non-docsis 3 areas are getting 6mbps because the 12mbps is not available. They pay the same price you pay for your internet and you get twice as much speed.
What is the regular comcast high-speed internet price?
I tried to cancel my TV and they told me that I would be paying $60 alone for the internet for 12mps. I thought that regular price is $43? Or am I mistaken?
I live in San Jose, CA
Regular price for the performance 12mbps internet connection is $57.95 if you have internet only, if you subscribe to any other Comcast service, the regular price is $42.95.
Hope this helps :)
And yes, I am a supervisor at Comcast.
Wow omg earlier I had super trouble to get 19.99 for 6 months for the performance plan. So then I figured wth I'm trying again and now from another analyst this time from the sales department offered me the Blast plan for 29.99 for 6 months as a stand-alone promo. It is 10 dollars more than performance but heck only 5 dollars more than what I pay for At&t dsl. I get only lousy 160kb/s for like 25 bucks a month, ANY of the comcast cable internet beats the speed anyday even if I have to pay 5 bucks more. lol
So for people from the Chicago area, if you cant get the performance plan for 19.99 try to ask for the Blast plan for 29.99 still good either way and its stand-alone.
Wow. The chat was easy. I got $24.99 for 6 months for 12MB and basic cable. CSR was really nice and helpful. Glad I could get my bill lowered. Was thinking of canceling or downgrading because I was paying $62/month for both before this promo. San Jose.
I believe I told them that I could install it myself and that I already had a modem. I think that's what it was or maybe that was back in college when I signed up with COX.
No luck here with 2 different chatters. One left me for like 10 minutes to check promotions and ended the chat before ever coming back. Second one said she couldn't lower rates online and that I would have to call in. Bummer!
I've found that if you just call them up and tell them (sincerely) that you need to lower your bill...ask them what kind of offer they can give you...then ask again if that's the best they can do. Kiss a little ass and you can get a price break.
If you're in a DOCSIS 3 area you could buy a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 modem at Amazon for $86.00 and install it yourself before you try to work Comcast's system. Ever since Comcast upgraded their system to DOCSIS 3 they can't throttle service in some areas below 25 megs, so you get the extra speed just by upgrading your equipment. Even if they eventually throttle speed in the future, you save the monthly rental of the cable modem and get a better unit than the crap they install - and you can negotiate for a better rate when the time comes.
Three inputs on the back - power, cable in, and ethernet to router. That's it. Call Comcast's tech support and give them the model number, MAC address and serial number off the box and in 15 minutes you'll have between 16 - 25 megs down and 6 - 10 megs up (depending on your area). Turn in your old cable modem and save the monthly fee ($6 in my area). I did the upgrade for my mom in Atlanta and she gets 30+ megs down and 20+ megs up - and she's on the cheap Internet plan.
Yep. I've been making the same argument about there being not enough competition in the broadband market for many years. Until just recently, I used to have people disagreeing with me and saying that low population is the reason prices are so high and speeds so low. Now there's a general consensus that there are informal agreements between the likes of Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast not to compete too much in each others territories and to keep prices high outside of the usual 6-month promotions.
Own a cell phone is Asia (India/China/Viet) for less than $2 a month. Incoming is free, outgoing is a less than $0.02/Minute with no contract or ssn# or security deposits, SMS is free or costs next to nothing...NOW THAT IS COMPETITION, what you have here are 12 Months contracts, Oligopoly, Collection Agencies, Screw Swines Numbers, Credit Reports to live and die by, D/L License Number and if you maintain everything....Identity Thieves...OR SLAVERY 2.0
I removed my Comcast line and now share a connection with 30 other people (via powerful $100 router) in the building, screwing them 29X....NOW THATS FANTASTIC!!
chat guy tried to get me to pay 34.99 for the 12mbps.
I`m only interested in high speed internet at this time..16mbps and above for a better price than I`m paying now at at&t
I also see another Internet promtion here at $19.99 for 6 months but this runs at 12Mbps only.
if you can offer me 16 mbps for 24.99 for 6 months I`ll change to a comcast customer.
I'm afraid we cannot do that at the moment because as what I have said, that promotion has ended already.
That is the best deal that we can give you at the moment, $19.99/month for 6 months.
For 12 Mbps.
I understand comcast has that speed boost
That's correct.
or is it a consistant 12 mbps download stream?
and what would be the upload stream?
12 Mbps is the minimum download stream for that package. If powerboost is activated, it can go up to 15Mbps on a certain time. Upload speed for this package is 2 to 3 Mbps.
what will the price go up to after the 6 months?
After 6 months, it will roll back to its original price of $42.95/month.
19.99 no tax for 6 months starting jan 15th....I did have to pay $50 for install tho..even tho I have the line comeing to my house and last they checked the signal was great..and told him that.He said that was half price...ok..the install guy is putting in a new line from the pole to the house now ..lol..its been up there for over 5 years anyway,and dont rent there modems $5 a month :P get one from wally world before the guy comes to install and have him hook it all up.. Slick deal.. hope you folks score too...
Ahhh - perhaps that's it - I have upgraded myself and my mom, and three people at work have upgraded their modems, and we all are hitting around 20 megs down without an increase in our bills. That being said, I'd still try the cable modem swap first to see if it works.
What good is 12~16mbps internet if you are using it to stream or download HD content you will use your 250GB limit that comcast has put in place for their residential customers very fast. I had to go to Comcast business class to get truely unlimited high speed internet, and that starts at 59 a month. To bad there are no other providers that offer more than 1.5mbps speed in my area.
bob61
The speed test is not always accurate, may be especially sure for the Austin server as speed results there were off the roof for me with a 208.24 / 2.69 down/upload test result. Other scans were over 100! Obviously something is not accurate ;)
http://www.speedtest.net/result/681060445.png (http://www.speedtest.net)
Testing another server showed 181.86 / 1.82 which is still not anywhere near reality:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/681063796.png (http://www.speedtest.net)
Being located in Chicago area I then selected a nearby server, results were 25.02 / 2.84 which is much more realistic.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/681062134.png (http://www.speedtest.net)
Interesting to note, high upload results were related to servers who showed a high ping rate. OP's ping was 53ms which is really high too. No slam, but the speed test doesn't come close to reflecting reality.
Stupid Comcast has installation fee. I mean, come on. I'm in an apartment complex and previous resident had Comcast. It's not like they have to dig and install a new line. They come out, put two cable jacks together which they disconnected outside of my house (I can see the box too.) and that's it. I refuse to pay $60 for installation fee and I refuse to stay home for hours. They wouldn't take away the installation fee over the phone either. They are stupid. I wish I had an alternative in my area but there isn't. I opted not to have TV nor internet at my home as I am rarely home (mostly at work anyways..). Bahhhh!!!
When I moved last year, I qualified for the deal they had going on for new customers. Apperently when you move, you become a new customer. I pay 29.99 for the digital starter package and 19.99 for the performace service for internet for a year. Right when we were moving, they had actually raised our rates and I was talking to retentions after numerous calls. They kept telling me they had no discounts to provide. Finally when I told the lady that we were moving and we would not be transferring the service, the lady told me that I should have said I was moving at the beginning and moving to a new location qualifies for the new customer promos. The promo is about to end in a couple months and I'll probably be moving again. Hoep they have another good promo at that time.
Just got out of chat and was told that I can't get a discount/promotion on my internet because I have either phone or cable through them. Kinda sounds backwards to me, but who am I? I was told to call 800-266-2278 x54097 to downgrade/cancel my service. BTW, I am in Lancaster, PA.
Just got off the phone with Comcast, got my bill lowered to $33 a month for 6 months. Looks like some people are making out better then me, but ~$10 a month savings is good for me. I had to call 1-800-COMCAST and press Disconnect & then Downgrade. After saying I need to downgrade or disconnect because the bill was to high, they gave me the $33 promotion instantly.
Thanks!!
I'm in Andover and am on the online chat now. Doesn't seem like they want to budge though. I'm currently paying $29.99 for 12MB plus the $5 for the modem rental.
edit: no luck, I even mentioned I knew somebody in Lawrence that got it, but got nothing.
I am in Quincy MA. I called and that guy will not budge at all. Any other tricks to get it lower. I am paying $42.95 for internet
Edit: I just got off the chat and it was piece of cake. The rep just verified my account and gave me $19.99 for 6 months. Thanks so much op
Thank you!
Just got off chat and got 16mb internet for $29.99/month for 6 months. I am in the Bay Area.
Also, I was able to get Showtime for $1/month for 12 months! He mentioned there is a Starz promo too, but I already have Starz for free. So when you talk to them, ask about Showtime and Starz!
tried to do the online chat. Current subscriber in the Chicago area. I was told I have to call the local service provider to see if they can do better than the deal that I already have.
I am in Dallas TX. TimeWarnet told me that they bought out Comcast in Dallas area, but were nice enough to discount my current package (7mbps goes up to 30mbps) to 24.99/mo for 12 months. Previously I was paying 39.99/mo.
I am doing research on Comcast now as I want to jump from my DSL. I never use cable modem before.
I dont have cable TV, will I have to pay a higher price for this offer? I will have to get my own cable modem and dont know which one to get.
Ended up taking $20 off for 3 months because the rep hassled me that I couldn't get the 29.99$ unless I had another service, shouldn't be negotiating while sick :(.
No luck in Olathe, KS
I have Performance Internet now with just basic cable. I tried chat and calling the customer loyalty department (866-565-4863) with no success. I asked them about what it would take to cancel and move to a competitor. They explained the cancellation process very clearly.
It's more without cable, I think it's like 10 bucks extra here, it's usually about the same as the price of basic locals only cable. You can't go wrong with a motorola, right now I'd lean towards the SB6120, it's like 20 bucks more than the 5120 but it's DOCSIS 3.0 for future proofing. You just missed a sweet deal at 65 bucks on amazon, it's about 85 now. If you don't expect to use the really high speeds (20mbps and up) any time soon the 5120 should be ok for quite some time.
^ They will lease you a modem ($3.50 for me).
It should be a simple transition but you'll have MUCH faster speeds.
Typically you can get Internet by itself & don't need to bundle w/ any other services.
It may vary by location though. Try ... comcastoffers.com or broadbandoffers.com
You can lease comcast modem for free with this (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1805679).
That is for a router not a modem. Also you have to be currently renting a modem from Comcast to qualify for that free router.
You can find a list of Comcast compatible cable modems here:
http://media2.comcast.net/anon.comcastonline2/support/help/misc/cmclist1.htm
The Motorola ones seem pretty common and are highly rated. If you need one quick do craiglist, otherwise eBay is probably the cheapest.
Also, for those in the South Bay area in CA, contact Jimmy_Pham@cable.comcast.com from Comcast (He's posted here before). He can get you this deal with no installation charge. =D
I've had good luck with Comcast for years by calling up and pressing the option to cancel service every 6-12 months (depending on the deal they give me). I just look up whatever deals the competitor in the area is offering, and the conversation usually goes like this:
Them: "But the competitor doesn't offer as many channels as us."
Me: "I usually only watch a few of them anyways, the extra ones you offer aren't a big deal to me"
Them: "Their internet isn't as fast as ours"
Me: "I only surf a few websites, send a few e-mails, I probably won't notice the difference"
Them: "Well, the rate they list on their website only lasts XX months"
Me: "It's still money I save in the meantime"
Them: "Well, as a valued customer we can offer you the new customer rate of XX.XX for XX months"
Me: "Well... ok.. I guess that's better then dealing with the hassle of changing providers"
I'm in the middle of my "new customer rate" now, so I'm fine with posting this. If 1,000,000 SDers call at the same time, I don't know what the results will be. Has worked for me for about 5 years now though.
Does anybody know how I can get this deal if it says on the Comcast site they do not service my area? Am I completely out of this deal. I really wan this deal because I already pay $25 for the DSL Elite and this is double the speed for about the same price. I am in Rosemead, CA 91770.
Try Charter Cable, they appear to be your local cable company. No promises on what kind of deals they have, but most areas are only covered by one cable company, you just have to figure out which one.
https://locator.go2broadband.com/ is a quick way to find available services for your area
THANK YOU OP! I have been trying for 1 month to get my bill lowered. I have even been told to cancel and wait 160 days then I would be a new customer and can get the lower price. I have been paying 62.95 each month for 12mbs. My response was so your saying I should go to a competitor for 6 months then come back? They stated that was the only way and before that they said I was paying too much. WHAT!!! They have been so hard to work with. I decided to try the chat and at first he searched and said he couldn't find a deal then I asked him about the website and he searched again then processed it. Whooo hooo. Finally got it. Thank you again op
My reading comprehension is fine. The way you have it worded it sounds like they can get a free modem but that deal is for a free router for people already renting a modem. I don't see anything on that page that says free modem leasing for people leasing a router from Comcast. Also, why would anyone be renting a router from Comcast but not a modem? The type of people likely to not want to rent a modem certainly would not be renting a router. I was trying to be helpful I don't see the need for a snide comeback.
$19.99/month for COMCAST 16Mbs Performance INTERNET
I am an existing customer.
Really...
What did you tell them?
And is it for 12 months or 6 months?
I am also on 19.99 @12mbps for 12 months that's why... :)
And BTW, is this REAL 16 mbps or powerboost like 12 mbps (i.e. only for first 10 mb of the file and then speeds drops to 6 mbps) ???
thanks in adv.
That economy service is not what you think it is. I believe it's 768kbps/384kbps not 12mbps.
