So I understand one must have 50 posts to give rep points.

Well, tonight I tried to give a point on the test drive offer, and got the message that's in the subject line.

What is that all about? Is this because I have a rep of only 10?

I only tried once. Didn't attempt to give extra credit.

think * think * think * think *

do you remember giving it to that username once before? that is the only way you'll get that message....is if you've given it already.

Gotta rep 6 others before you can rep the same person again.

perhaps I tried to give a rep point before I had 50 posts.

perhaps I tried to give a rep point before I had 50 posts. That is not the issue. You can give rep points before you reach 50 posts, they just don't count in the member's tally.

You really do have to rep 6 other members before repping the same person again.

I am not positive, but if it says you must spread rep around, wouldn't that indicate you need to give reps to others? The message states nothing about time being a factor (e.g. "it's been too soon to give [username] rep points"). Just my humble opinion...

I think there's a TIME factor involved also (but I may be wrong), i.e., if enough time has elapsed, one can celery the same member without having celeried 6 others first. (Have we adopted celery yet?)There was a thread started here a couple of months ago where folks verified the number of people who must be celeried before celerying someone again. That number was six.

There is also a maximum number of celery stalks one can give in a day, but that is not related to the number of stalks between members.

It was a "safety" feature added so that a member can't rep. themselves. IE - They can't set up 2 accounts & rep. the main account over & over again with the duplicate account.

There is only a certain amount of rep points that can be given out by one member per day, and a certain amount of rep points one can give to an idividual member with out repping other members. It has nothing to do with your over all rep. points. Everyone has this feature.

Does that make sense?
