View Full Version : 'AS SEEN ON TV' product reviews.
I picked up a few items over the holidays, and a few more this last month at cvs... I know we've been seeing these "As seen on TV" sections in almost every store now (Target, CVS, Wags, etc) so I thought it might be a good idea for us to share our experiences with these products and how well they perform.
"Snuggies":
got 2 for the kids and one for the wife for christmas. "Surprisingly warm" was the consensus.
bought at wags on thanksgiving when they were on sale and had register rewards.
worth the price, good item. 5 stars
"Big city slider station":
little burger press and fryer. Exactly one pound of ground beef made 11 of them.
It's made of non-stick-coated aluminum. It worked, but seemed more hassle than it was really worth. Also, even though it has a top part, grease splattered all over the stove and counter. Also, not very user friendly when making the second batch of 5, since the two parts are now hot, and the handle of the top part isn't all that big. Also hard to clean even though it's "non-stick".
Paid $9.99, minus $5 "as seen on tv item" coupon at cvs, and minus other discounts so basically free.
pretty much useless item, but fairly cheap and does what it's supposed to... barely. 2 stars.

My local news station does reports on as seen on tv items. Yesterday they did a report on the bottle tops (?). They turn cans into bottles. According to the report, they were difficult to put on the can and did not retain the fizz as well as advertised. HTH

Nice idea for a thread. I am planning to rep the first person who does a good review of the slapchop. Every time, I cut onions with a plain kitchen knife, I see visions of Vince through my tears. Just hate to waste money if the thing isn't all it's cracked up to be...

Swivel Sweeper works great, exactly expected in my tiled eat in kitchen area. Picks up the kids "droppings" lickety split. Visible debris as well as smaller particles get collected. Lightweight and real easy to use but the dirt bin is a bit of a pain/mess to take off/put back on (the new model has a touchless dirt tray:bounce:). The battery charge does not seem to last a long as I like before I feel it needs to be recharged (maybe 4-5 uses). The bristles do like to pick up hair and entangle but there is a little tool to pick and free it. I give it 4 1/2 Stars.
BTW, I just recently purchased the new model (for $39.99 - $5/20 at CVS using expiring ECBs) but haven't used it yet. In addition to the touchless dirt bin, it has a handle that can "elbow" so you can go under furniture without bending. HTH.

LOL, what a great idea for a thread.
Here's a comment on "The Perfect Brownie" which I still haven't bought but I probably will soon. - apparently it makes all brownies into "edge pieces" which are coveted by brownie lovers everywhere
If you're a sucker so are a lot of people including me. I bought this before Xmas and really love it! I actually bought 2 more for gifts too since I loved it so much. I have used it for bar cookies as well and it does the job great. My only recommendation is if you like your brownies crisp on the edges and soft in the middle cook them a little less than you normally would so they stay soft.
I got the "Vidalia Chop Wizard" at CVS with expiring ECB and turns out that it is a good product and we use it frequently. My only regret with this item is that it takes more time to set up and clean than to do the actual chopping. They have a similar product that slices, and it works well too. I'd give both ****
We bought "The Clapper" ... long story, but to make it short, don't waste your money. It doesn't work well. Two stars **

I've had the original swivel sweeper for a couple of years now.. Works great!... Now keep in mind, it will only replace sweeping on a regular basis... I have kids and often there is a mess around there seats and on the floor.. the sweeper works well to pick up the debris.... Also remember to clean the bristles once in while since hair usually gets caught up in there..
Also purchased the inside windshield cleaner thingie. works well, because it's compact and the face pivotes to the contour of the windshield making cleaning a bit easier... bought these during F&F at cvs and used ecbs to pay... hth

I got one of these for Christmas. It works great on the door from the basement. It stays in place and moves with the door. However, I have wood floors with no carpeting so it doesn't get stuck on them.

My daughter bought Bump Its at CVS.... Needless to say she said they didn't work the way they should have.... and have not seen her with any in her hair. The larger one just looks so big and cumbersome for someone to be wearing attached to their scalp all day.

 This is so funny. It looks like good tool, IF it works like they say.
I bought the Vidalia Chop Wizard, $9.99 at CVS and I love it! Very easy to chop onions with it. It has two dicer blades, one makes like 1/4 in dices and the other one 1/2 in.
The small blade is perfect for onion, the biggest one I use for salad or soup. You do have to slice the fruit/vegetable first (onion only on half).
Another good thing is that the base has measurements (1/2 cup, 1, 2 cups)
Only con is that pushing down the lid is hard sometimes, especially with vegetables like potatoes or carrots. Oh and it makes some darn noise, you may think you broke the thing but everything is fine :D
HTH
Four stars!

I love the Smooth Away bought it with a coupon and ECB's sometime ago at cvs, more as a last minute item. It surprisingly works well! I have dark brown coarse hair and it worked great. But just like the foot grater thing, you have to be careful to not do to much or be too vigorous or you can possibly burn your skin. It is just sand paper after all. But I keep it around for touch ups or when I dont have time to shave.

I have the kitchenaid version: worth its weight! It's a huge time saver.. though when it chops it releases a lot of juice from all the cuts on the onion or whatever, not an issue just something to be aware of. It is not good at chopping herbs but does a great job with celery, green peppers, onions, garlic etc etc.

I bought a few topsy turveys from rite aide - they were junk. However, my neighboor bought them right from the inomercial, and hers were amazing. Completely different product. Mine were about $10 each, and she paid $40 plus shipping for two.
The in-store products did not say they were any different from the infomercial ones. Hers were two or three times bigger, came with a stand, and had many openings. Mine were small and had one opening at the bottom.
Overall in-store ones - 2.5 stars, Actual informerical ones- 4 stars.
I also bought the shark steam mop- LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
4.5 stars. WOuld be 5 if it had an on/off switch and a little bigger section to hold water. I have a lot of floors. It works GREAT.

You need to pump this thing to get it going..if it even starts to go. Too much work and barely cleans anything. Lucky if any steam comes out.
Junk. I returned it and bought SteamFast SF-292 Multi-Purpose Floor Mop and Handheld Steam Cleaner. Same price, but 100x better. Its both hand held and stand alone (unlike shark). But more importantly you dont have to jump up and down to get it going. Just plug in ..no pumping.

thank you both for the information on the swivel sweeper. I am fascinated by the ASOTV items; and really wanted to get one of these. Since this is a thread about product reviews I am hoping to get help here.... i used to have an off brand thing EXACTLY like slap chop, it is worth it for chopping onions and garlic alone!
the belly burner band thing is a complete WASTE... it fits up to 50" which i am nowhere near, i have to pull it very tight to get it to feel like its on and the neoprene is ripping inside from me having to wear it so tight. I have had it for A FEW DAYS! lame product unless you are bigger and wont need to put so much pressure tightening the neoprene
bumpits are horrible, if your hair naturally parts backwards you may be in luck, but my hair parts down the center and it doesnt NOT work on my hair at all, and looks rather stupid when i do get my hair to part backwards.
smooth away is like taking sandpaper to your legs, it takes too long and is a waste, i would rather buy nair than rub and rub, it never gets all the hairs and i have very very thin blonde leg hair.

I bought the turbo snake to use on a clog in my bathtub. The turbo snake pulled the clog out far enough where I could see it, but it wasn't strong enough to pull the clog completely out. I had to get a pair of pliers to finish pulling out the clog. I was happy with the turbo snake because without it I wouldn't have reached the clog.

I bought one and it took my skin off OUCH!
We have the Draft Guard and like it, too
We also have a few other "seen on TV" things, and when I remember what they are I'll let you know
Also have a George Forman grill, one of the bigger ones that has a flat griddle and a set of waffle irons too. came with 5 plates/griddles (2 tops, 2 bottoms, and the flat one). works awesome for porkchops (we usually get the thick pork loin chops at costco and then halve them because they're over an inch thick... halving them makes them the perfect thickness for the Foreman grill
I think retail was $125 wehn we bought it, and we had a gift card and a % discount to use on it too, so we paid under $100.
It really does drain away the fat, but then I "baste" the pork chops in it once or twice, or use it to make gravy in a pan, so it's not really making me eat healthier, lol!
for chicken breasts, it seems to dry them out a little too much so be sure to marinade the chicken really good, and the same with burgers... burgers just need to be a little bit greasy!
4 stars for the Foreman grill.

I think someone mentioned about the turbo snake...
I also got one of those (comes with 2) and used it in our soaking tube because it wasn't draining... Used biologics stuff, b/c I didn't want to use drano that didn't solve our standing water issue. Then used the turbo snake.. Lo and behold.. pulled out the mesh stuff from those mesh / lathering sponges (I don't know what they are called).. Apparently, you don't let the kids play with those after you're done lathering them up with Johnson and Johnson babywash... We thought it disappeared somewhere... Now we know where..
Long story short.. Yes it does work!! But please DO NOT try it on a drain that is in working condition...

I would second this. The slap chop is basically useless. For one, its tiny, what was supposed to fit in there? It doesn't always chop, my eyes still tear when doing onions, since their is no way to keep the "fumes" from not escaping. Finally, I can cut onions, celery, etc. by hand faster then this thing cuts them.
1 star, don't waste your ECBs/RR's.

I love the Perfect Brownie pan. I recommend undercooking the brownies just slightly if they last longer than a day or two because they do dry out faster.
I also loved the Turbo Snake. It pulled out the biggest glob of hair you ever saw out of my bathtub. Dh's drain has soap buildup from him letting the little slivers sit in the drain. He has tried drain cleaners on it but it always come back quickly. By pushing it way down I think I've now got them loosened up so that they weren't all globbed up.
I did give a friend a Turbo Snake and she said after she used it in her drains she had to throw it out. It did an incredible job and she was amazed at how much hair came out of her drains. She has 3 girls all with long hair. The only problem is the hair gets all wrapped around the top so she didn't want to keep it since it would be more work than it's worth to clean it.
PED -EGG --- worst invention ever!! be careful with this sucker because you may think you are getting all that skin off, but the next day it will HURT. terrible terrible product. take a cheese grater to your foot and it'd be just as painful!. 1 star

Hi All,
We bought the Ninja Master Prep. We saw it on Infomercial and then saw it on QVC. Went with QVC because they had more "stuff" with it for better price. I now see these in many stores.
I give this item 5 stars!!! We love it. You really can make snow with it (had to try it since they bragged about it on the air). Best slushies and frozen coffee drinks ever...no chunks. We've also made hamburgers in it....we put in ground meat, chunks of cheese, onion, etc and it ground them all together....grilled them and let me say....YUM!!!!
Ours came with 2 large pitchers, 2 small pitchers, the base motor, the blades and a cookbook.
Hope this helps someone!

I have spent countless $$ on Drano over the years due to slow drains. It would work for a while, then right back to square one. The Turbo Snake is the bomb!! I tried it on my bathroom sink and now it drains freely! It was so easy to use that I turbo-ed each bathroom sink in the house, then used the other turbo it came with (for tubs) on our upstairs bathtub which has always been slow. What a difference in the whole house!! Highly recommend!!
Here's another good one-The Fur Vac-attaches to vacuum hose to pick up pet fur from upholstery. I use it every day on our bed. DH has no idea Sparky naps on the bed during the day!
Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter-total piece of junk. Water would run right thru it and the plant dried out. Horrible reviews all over the internet. We tried different suggestions on the web, but we never got it to work right. I have never seen one in anyones yard that looked nice. They all look limp and lifeless.
I tried Magic Jack with an older model Nokia phone (one without a speaker phone) and it didn't work at all. I tried all the "fixes" the brochure suggested. Maybe it works better on newer model phones.
Pet Snuggie--works well on the dog because it keeps them warm but leaves most of their underside open. Dog tolerates it well. However, the fleecey material that Snuggie is made of collects lint. And the material pills after being washed. Overall, though, it was an RR purchase at Wags when it was on sale and I've been happy to have it.
Green bags--green containers. Forgotten what they are called but they are the tupperware version of green bags. Huge bomb. Moisture collects like the dickens in them and hastens the decay of the fruit instead of extending the freshness. Don't believe the demo on tv that makes it look like everything stays fresh without any issue. Also very hot when you take them out of the dishwasher because of the silver? that is in them. They had a funny smell, too, despite washing them. I was able to return them; was very disappointed because I would love to find a way to make raspberries last in the fridge.

Magic Jack - Best product in this category! It works perfect. Never dropped a call, perfect reception! Already saved me $50 last month. I disconnected my Time Warner Phone for it. Amazing product. Magic Jack will save me $650 per year. Its really Magic!
Oh, my phones are fairly new - Uniden Dec 6.0.

Bottle Tops-I would give them 3 stars...
Pros:
Great for when you want to give your kids a can of coke etc. for the car. Not spill proof but not even sippy cups are spill proof-those things leak everywhere!
Easy to clean-yes I know not dishwasher safe-but really all you do is pop it off and rinse it under warm water-not like you are using it to drink milk out of-right!
Cons-
Hard to get on-the trick is that the can must be full-open the tab then put on. Then when you are done-just squeeze the can in the middle and pop it off.
Not really useful in keeping half open cans of coke-b/c really who wants to go in the fridge and start drinking an opened can of coke...no one...so they just sit there.

Well I am pretty skeptical of ASOT items but have bought a few.
Strap Perfect - love it! It does make the straps tighter though so best if you are able to lengthen the straps.
Smooth Away - total crap, do.not.buy.
Turbo Snake - undetermined, haven't tried it on a clog yet. Did try it on a slow sink but it's more of a yucky buildup than a hair clog so it didn't do much for that.
Space Bag - overall decent, it does what it supposed to. I've had bags that will leak (expand) while in storage though.
Ped Egg - decent, works pretty well.
Aqua Globes - aunt in law has had them for a few years, she said it works well.
Bendaroos - thumbs up. I like creative toys for kids, but it is a little difficult for my 5 yo to manipulate into tight shapes like the pictures (but she still likes it). I've heard one report of a stray bendaroo getting melted into the carpet in the summer though, stained the carpet.
Pixos - eh. The kiddos seem to like it but the sprayer was difficult for my 5 yo. and it was hard to gauge how much water to spray. I did too little and it didn't stick together enough so had to spray it again. The wait is another issue, you make the thing and spray it, then wait a day to dry. You can't make another thing until you can take the first one off. Maybe for an older kid it won't be as frustrating. And then you have to make sure no water touches the finished piece. PITA.
Aqua Doodle - was ok. Small toddlers got to draw with no mess, but one kept chewing on the pens.
Floam - Our preschool had this, it was interesting but I'd stick to play-doh.
Moon Sand - outside toy! The kids liked it but very very messy.
A long long time ago I bought a microwave bacon tray thing, it didn't cook evenly. Threw it out.
Goodness, I guess I have way more ASOT items than I thought. :paperbag:

Oh yea, one more, the "Open-It" is great. It is this cutter thing that looks sort of like a pliers and you use it to open those obnoxious plastic packages. It also has a box cutter blade and a little screwdriver. I was afraid it was going to be a cheapie, but it is sturdy, well made and works great. Completely worth the $0.00 I paid for it. :D Actually I would pay cash for it as well. It is worth it.
I'm not sure if this is technically "As Seen On TV" but they put it with all the ASOT stuff.

OK, so after reading reviews here, yesterday at F&F I got the infamous "Turbo Snake" and I was a little skeptical until I tried it on a drain that I have Drano'd probably 5 times and then pulled out a glob of some kind of cloth threads, have no idea what it was, but obviously causing the problem.
So then my kids decide they want to turbo snake the sink in their bathroom, and that was a golden moment that made it well worth the $9.99, was to hear their howls of grossed-outed-ness as they turbo snaked some gob of something out of the drain. Be careful what you ask for, dear children. :lmao: :vomit:
So, overall, I give the Turbo Snake an enthusiastic two thumbs up!!

I do think this is the best posting board. It all looks good on TV but then ends up being junk.
OK. So I love...
SHOWTIME ROTISSERIE
PERFECT BROWNIE
PED EGG
WINDSHIELD WONDER
Sort of...
SMOOTH AWAY (works for softer hair but is awesome)
BUMP ITS ( they are kind of a pain because you have to basically tease your hair and make it in knots so the thing will stay in but it DOES work WELL with a little work and some aerosol hairspray at the end)
for you SLAP CHOP people dont waste your money. Try lighting any scented candle and keep it next to the board while you chop it COMPLETELY keeps your eyes from burning and is basically free.
Um I want to get a steamer. I want one that heats up fast and works on countertops and upholstery. Any ideas?

I bought the turbo snake to use on a clog in my bathtub. The turbo snake pulled the clog out far enough where I could see it, but it wasn't strong enough to pull the clog completely out. I had to get a pair of pliers to finish pulling out the clog. I was happy with the turbo snake because without it I wouldn't have reached the clog.

I have 2 Labs and they did not like the Pedipaw. It was ok when they were pups but we do not even bother now it would take way too long, the motor is not that strong and it stops all together if you really try to grind away.
I do think it would be ok for cats or small dogs as you would not need to grind down such big nails.
I give it 2 stars- might be better for others though.
Sav-A-Blade(I think) it is supposed to sharpen razor blades (I bought before SD) SUCKS

It did not fit Venus or Fusion razors so it was pointless for us.

I bought one of these for our pugs. Cannot get near them with it, on or off. They absolutely hate it. The family that we got one of the pugs from recommended it highly...go figure.
I'm not sure if this was an ASOT product, but we do have The Furminator...nothing was ever invented that's as good as this thing for our pugs, and they love it. Just don't get carried away when you use it because it will irritate their skin if you use it every day. We usually furminate twice a week in the summer and we use it out on the deck. It's amazing how much hair comes out of these little dogs when they're furminated.
PED -EGG --- worst invention ever!! be careful with this sucker because you may think you are getting all that skin off, but the next day it will HURT. terrible terrible product. take a cheese grater to your foot and it'd be just as painful!. 1 star
Pet-Zoom - bought for 90% off on clearance at CVS, $2, came with two sizes, large and small, i dont have a dog, so I just use the small one on my kitty. she LOVES it! i get so much fur off of her and she goes crazy when i pull it out. 5 stars!
wife and I like the PED-EGG, you just have to use it several times in moderation to avoid taking too much off. Don't apply pressure as you use it, just let it slide quickly across any areas that are calloused. I'd give it 3 stars.
I want more reviews of showtime rotisserie, the food looks awesome, but we can get a chicken already cooked at costco that tastes great for almost as cheap as a raw whole chicken. And we know the costco one will taste great.

I have had a showtime rotisserie for several years, I makes the best lemon pepper chicken. Very moist & the flavor is awesome! The only downside is the prep/clean up. It is very messy, you have to tie the chicken just right so the wings & legs don't flop around then if it is not on the tines correctly (lop-sided) it won't spin correctly. Clean up is kind of a pain too, the total inside gets covered with grease splatter & then bakes to the walls. The flavor is great, not sure if it is worth the work though.

Love love love this thread!!!!!!!
Do y'all think Magic Jack is reliable enough to cancel a landline? Hubby works from home and really can't afford sporadic service, so I've been told no way!
On the steam mops, I see mixed reviews on the shark -- has anyone bought the Haan? I've seen that a few times on late-night; but the reviews are also mixed on Amazon.
Actually, ALL reviews for ALL steam floor mops are mixed. I wonder why that is? Is it the expectations people have? The dirtiness of the floors? (Mine are hopelessly grimy, so I should probably not expect much, right?)
I had a Vertisserie (sp?) for a while -- seems like it was similar to the Showtime Rotisserie? Anyway, it cooked the chicken fine -- but not any better than it would have cooked in an oven. And the cleanup was a PITA. Let's not forget you have to store this behemoth someplace.
My mom is a HSC/QVC addict (gee, what a surprise, shopping addictions are genetic!!) -- she has every small appliance known to man and expanded her kitchen cabinetry just to store crap. Her dishwasher is filled with appliances; it's never been used. That is because she DOESN'T COOK.
But I digress.
Again, excellent thread! Reps to OP!

Magic Jack - 100% Reliable. I cancelled my land line for it. Exact same quality. It runs through your internet. If you have high speed cable internet, you will have no issue whatsever.
Steam mops - Shark is trash. You have to pump it in order for it to work. Not only is it alot of work, but it also does not steam half the time. There are much better ones out there. I returned the steam mop and bought this "SteamFast SF-292 Multi-Purpose Floor Mop and Handheld Steam Cleaner". Its same price and much better and also portable.
Good Luck!

on the magic jack, you need to have 2 things
a reliable internet connection and a computer that can be ON at all times that phone usage is important to you
get a magic jack, and keep your current land line a few more months, let your husband see how reliable it is.
the coolest thing about magic jack is that you can take it with you ANYWHERE in the world, and if there's an internet connection, you have free phone service back to the US! When you travel with the magic jack, just bring along a cheap regular phone and you can call home.
My neighbor bought 3, one for him, and 2 for his relatives in India, and they supposedly are on the phone to each other for several hours per week.

I am a sucker for asotv stuff and have most of it and got most of them at CVS. They had this potato peeler that is the best thing I've ever gotten. it makes it so much easier to peel potatoes and I wouldn't do without one now. I've had 2 swivel sweepers and they are good but get a lot of hair wrapped around them and you have to work to get them out but it will suck up anything.
My latest thing I've gotten is that windshield cleaner thing and I love it. You spray water on it and clean your inside windshield and it looks streaky but you take the other cloth and put it on and run it over your windshield and it gets it so clear. It looks like the day I bought it.

The Jack LaLanne Power Juicer is great! We got ours about 5yrs. ago when it cost twice as much as it does today. It did come with a free set of those Magic Bullets. (Actually 4 x's as much!!! Looks like website has a BOGO offer) :(
Also, on website they are now charging $15 for an "accessory pack" that was included with ours originally.
But, you never know if they have changed manufacturers, suppliers, etc. so I guess I can't speak of the ones they make today. (hmmmm, maybe I am not being helpful at all now)
It's late and I can't remember if we have any other made for TV crud. Will have to wait unitl I get home

My local news station does reports on as seen on tv items. Yesterday they did a report on the bottle tops (?). They turn cans into bottles. According to the report, they were difficult to put on the can and did not retain the fizz as well as advertised. HTH
FALSE! lol.. Sorry, but I disagree. They work fantastic! They last just as long as an opened 20 ounce bottle with the lid put back on it would. Most importantly, they drastically reduce the amount the would spill if you knocked a can over, which might explain why it would be a bit difficult to put these on. There is actually a trick for putting them on and taking them off as another poster indicated.

Pedipaws - tried to use and scared my dog so bad I put it back in the package never to be used again.
Showtime Rotissere - I agree 100% with others... makes great food but the hour it took to clean it wasnt worth it to me. I havent used it in ages.
Steam buddy - I absolutely love. One draw back is if you dont wait for the light to come that lets you know when it's ready, you will squirt water on whatever you are steaming.
I think with all of the ASO TV products, everyones expectations are different. For instance, if you think the showtime rotissere is going to fix you marriage, you are mistaken. If you just want great tasting food and can handle the extra clean up time... it's a dream!

if you're going to use a magic jack and have multiple computers in the house, you need to set up a decent (read "not bargain-basement") router to prioritize traffic and "shape" non-magicjack traffic. If there's only one computer, you need to set it up to prioritize the magic jack traffic.
I do a lot of downloading and uploading of large files (400gb+ a month) and have a very highspeed connection (25mbit fiber), but I still never allow any single piece of software on my computer to utilize more than 50% of my bandwidth.
It sounds complicated, but it's simpler than it sounds, and the savings are WAY worth it... many of us will go hours out of our way to get a hot deal that saves us $30 or $40, so when you consider that you could save hundreds per year with magic jack, it's worth educating yourself!
Oh, don't forget about stuff like gaming on xbox live, that eats bandwidth too!

Walgreens.com has their ASOT items 20% off today (2/24) with the following coupon code: ASTV20.
The magic jack is $31.99 with the coupon code, but the $5.49 shipping and $2.62 in tax pushed it up to $40.10. Cheaper than what I would pay in store, $42.79 after tax, but I would like to pick it up somewhere with a $5 off purcase coupon. That would lower my cost to $37.79.
Does anyone know if Walgreens is planning one of their $5/$25 coupons anytime soon? The other drugstores in my area either didn't carry them or have them in stock.

Has anyone tried the InStyler? They sell it at Walgreen's now and I purchased it a couple weeks ago when the 15% coupon was out. I'm still undecided if I'll keep it, but wanted to hear if others tried it and had success. It could just be it doesn't work for my hair.
The thing I really like is that I can create volume at the back of my hair, which I couldn't do with just a blow dryer. It doesn't seem to smooth my hair as much as I can with my flat iron though and that really bothers me because I like my hair to be as straight as possible. I also couldn't get it to work on my bangs. The barrel doesn't seem to be able to grasp my hair well enough.

well, I have to say as far as the Shark steam mop goes: I LOVE IT!!! And it tells you on the infomercial that you have to pump it but still its very easy now they say not to use chemicals in it so I don't but I put some mr. clean on the floorpad and my floors are CLEAN.
I just bought the Shark litevac (?-multi-vac) and that works wonderfully I have3 kids and 2 dogs (Lhasa Apso and a Boxer) and it picks the hair right up! LOVE IT!!!! It is a little weird but it is worth it because it works great, I have all hard floors so I just needed something small that would get the dog hair.
Has anyone tried the InStyler? I was also wondering this also, I need something for my hair that hopefully won't take soo long.

I bought my girlfriend knockoff aqua globes at Kirkland's (about 2.99 ea.) for Christmas. She loves them.

We only have them for when we go on our two week vacations. They are perfect for making sure your plants stay alive while you are away.
As for a constant plant waterer, I've never used them like that but have read reviews that said they give too much water and constant use of the globes would result in a quicker death for the plant.

I finally got my hands on the strap perfect bra strap holders from target during the BOGO sale. the strap perfect bra straps are awesome! especially for the bras that don't come with the racer back strap. it does a really good job keep the bra straps from falling off your shoulders. the only draw back is that it's kind of a pain to hook them together. other than that it's a great quick fix for bra straps falling off your shoulders!

ok after reading reviews, i went to walgreens and got the turbo snake for 6 bucks after RR, i'm sorry to say this but i'm disappointed :(
it'd be very practical for those with a straight pipe. however, because my pipe is literally like a maze it forms all odd angles and the turbo snake isn't flexible enough to bend and move in alignment to the pipes. unfortunately it was not able to even get into the pipe far enough to even reach where the clog is because the wire is too stiff and will not bend.
IMO, i think it'd be cheaper to go to home depot and make of of these turbo snakes yourself...or even at arts & craft stores where they sell wire to make wire sculptures. and then attach a piece of the friction side of velcrow to the the tippy top side.
i think that the type of metal cord used here should be one that is more bendable, there's this one type of metal cord that literally moves around like a snake when your try to "fold" it. i think once i get to a store that sells different types of metal cords, i'll have to try to make one on my own because the turbo snake didn't work for me :(

I have a Magic Bullet knock-off I got a few years back from Kaufmanns (macys now) - and I would have to give it mix reviews - it's not going to do everything the infomercial says.
If you want to make smoothies, milkshakes, baby food - anything like that, you'll be pleased.
As far as using it to make tuna salad - um, no...unless you like tuna soup. :vomit: Trying to chop cheese makes a melted goopy sticky mess. The heat from the friction of the blades is just too much.
The other blade (flat) works good for grinding things - I forget what I was making, but only had the whole spice and needed ground spice. Used the bullet and it did a great job.
My kids love cheesy broccoli, so I always put the stems (with cheese) into the bullet for my 18 month old - makes it the consistency of cream of broccoli soup. Made them banana smoothies by putting an overripe banana, splash of apple juice, and some ice cubes in it. And chocolate icecream and milk works great for a milkshake.
The footprint is small enough that it stays on our counter, next to the toaster, all the time. All the cups are in the cup cupboard, and the blades and rings are in the silverware drawer. Everything can go in the dishwasher.

I use the 16 ounce water bottles in my plants when I travel -- works fine and I just put them in the recycling when I return. I use the larger ones - -2 liter -- in some of my outdoor container plants when I travel.
They do work, although the new problem becomes the fact that you forget to refill the globes ;)
Got these clearanced at CVS for two bucks; wouldn't pay more ;)
I am using both in one monster plant (shrub, really) -- a hibiscus that winters indoors here in PA.
Yeah, you can forget to refill the Aqua Globes - you have to go over to the plant to actually see whether they're empty or not; at that point, you may as well just water the dang thing :)
I haven't tried a vacation to see whether they extend the time between watering; but I find that they're empty about the time I'd normally have to water anyway.
The thing to remember (it's on the instructions) is that these are blown glass and easily breakable. You can even break it inserting it into the soil. If you have small kids or boisterous pets, I would skip it.
Shark and other steam floor cleaner afficionados -- do y'all actually have dirty floors? I mean ground-in, years' worth? I mistakenly chose a pebbled white floor vinyl for our kitchen when we built our house and it is impossible to get clean anymore. And our wood floors probably are past the point of anything short of refinishing. I mean, when I get down on my knees and scrub a small section with serious elbow grease, I can brighten the wood and remove the stains, but who's got that kind of time?
So I guess what I'm asking is are these steam floor mop contraptions any good if you're a crappy housekeeper?

About how much does one "batch" in the Magic Bullet make of pureed food? I'm thinking about making my own baby food and freezing it in ice cube trays. Would I have to do a ton of batches to fill up just one tray or would it make a decent amount? I don't plan to make HUGE amounts to freeze but I think it might be annoying if the amount in each batch could only fill like 3 cubes of a tray.
Thanks!

The big cup is about the size of a pint glass - so about 14 oz of usable space maybe, the small one is maybe half that size.
You could get a decent amount of pureed food in them - and it takes seconds to puree something soft. For the cheesy broccoli, it takes 5 or 6 seconds at most.

I found quite the opposite. These bags are great!!! You just have to make sure that the fruit/veggies are dry before you put them in. I put in a bananna that was turning brown and it stopped further ripening for about a week.

I have used personally a Robocut for maybe seven or eight years and saved probably thousands of dollars. Even my sons like to use it on their cuts. It does a great conservative cut which is all I'm looking for. Do it two or three weeks and nobody even notices you've had a haircut and it takes all of 5 or 6 minutes to complete the whole thing.

Found out the hard way that the 30 day guarantee for the Magic Jack is only good if you purchase it from their website. I previously mangled the package and tossed the CVS receipt, so I am stuck with it. Had an online chat with two CS reps and they were complete idiots.
Is it a good value for $40? Absolutely.
The issue I have with it is that I need to have my laptop open and screen active for it to remain connected. If my screen times out, then the MJ stops operating. There is a reason screen savers kick in when a computer is inactive. I don't want to change those settings to accomodate this phone.
It is hard to convince DW to ditch Comcast phone when this won't ring unless we are active on the computer.

I haven't used the actual PediPaws but did read on a pet forum that they don't have enough oomph. After looking at one in a store, I'm pretty sure I agree with this without ever turning one on. It was light and cheap feeling.
I bought the $25 3 speed Black & Decker rotary tool at Wal-Mart to use on my dog. I love it. I use it on my German Shepherd regularly. The nails are WONDERFUL, nice and smooth. Much better than dog nail cutters. I use it on medium speed with a fairly rough grit sanding drum.
Funny I read this now. Just tonight I grabbed it to do the nails of a Golden Retriever I am fostering. My dog came over, laid down in our nail doin' spot, and looked at me. :lmao:

I bought the Titan Peeler a while back. I liked the commercial but when it came down to me using it, I wasnt all that impressed. I dont know if I was using it wrong, the mandoline part.
I bought the Turbo Snake from the Harriet Carter magazine a while back as well. It was worth having. I was very surprised how tiny it was. I dont know why but when I got it in the mail I thought I was being jipped. For under $10, it works well for the shower.
The Windshield Wonder - not bad. I keep it in my car and use it. It is cheap plastic which broke, but still works.
Dryer Balls - I like them when I do laundry at laundrymat not at home because they are super loud. They do fluff though. Personally I like tennis balls better because the fuzz on them grabs hair off the clothes.
I would like to get a FlavorWave one of these days.

You are right, the Pedipaws is an absolute joke! I show dogs, so the nails must be short. I left for a show and forgot the battery operated Dremel, so bought one of the Pedipaws. I use a top of the line Dremel at home, and have a portable one for shows. It would literally take me an hour to do nails with the Pedipaws. Good luck getting your dog to cooperate that long, and not get totally stressed. I do nails between 15,000 and 20,000 RPM. Yes, you must be careful, but the quicker you are off the nail, the less heat that is generated. I'm not sure what the max RPM is for the Pedipaws as I threw the thing away, but it was pathetic.
If you offer high value treats, you'll find your dog does not mind the grinding process. Mine all fight over who gets to go first. It's much less stress, and less uncomfortable than cutting, in my experience. I just checked Petedge.com, and they have grinding tools starting at $19.99. Have not tried the cheaper tools, but can say the Dremel's work great. If your dog is not used to the grinding process, the Pedipaws would be the worst way to introduce them to it. You and the dog will both be very frustrated.

CVS recently had a $3 off asotv stuff so I bought the cheapest
The EcoCanteen @ 4.99 works well. I had reusable metal bottles from other places and the biggest problelm not being able to squeeze the bottle & get water out of the sport top. I'd often take off the lid and get some on me while on the eliptical @ gym. This one doesn't require me to have an internal Hoover to get the water with sport cap in place.
Vita Grass ($3.34) : haven't started it yet. I'm OK with garden but pretty bad with house plants. If anyone has grown this and found ways to actually keep it alive I'd love to hear. So would Kitty.
ETA: after using EcoCanteen, we realized it has to be kept upright. There is tiny vent on the cap that doesn't close - and the reason don't get a hernia sucking water out.
learned the hard way - not good for tossing in gym bag or sideways in a cooler

To the person asking about the "Instyler"....I bought one on a trip when I forgot my flat iron. I had been wanting an Instyler so I bought one and figured once I got home I could use it and my flat iron. After buying it we went back to our cabin and I put this thing into my hair. The first try made my hair all kinky. I went back over it trying to fix it and it burnt off over 2 inches of my hair.
I took it back to the store that night and got up first thing the next AM on a mission to find a replacement CHI. I would give Instyler 0 stars!!!!! I had to have my haircut to fix it. I was pretty upset.
Ok I am curious about those NuWave or Flavorwave ovens that are round and cook like a convection really fast. Everytime I see the informercial I have to talk myself out of ordering one...so does it work???

Wow, didn't know this thread was here! Let's see...
Perfect Brownie pan - LOVE it! Very easy to use.
Pedi-Paws - Our 5 dogs all put up with it just fine. It really helps and we actually use it after their nails are clipped.
Bark Ender - AWESOME!!!!! I can walk into the back yard with it, with all 5 barking with the neighbor dogs and ALL of them stop and look at me...except the 15 year old deaf one (bless his heart).
Windshield Wonder - Really great!
Magic Blender - LOVE it! I love it much better than the blender that hangs out under the counter.
EcoCanteen - My daughter loves it!
Dryer Balls - work great but they are exceptionally loud.
3-d sunglasses = awesome. i could almost wear them all the time
i've got a few eco-canteens - the only concern i have is @the mouth - the stainless steel is rolled under yet there is adequate opening for grunge to build up. not a problem if you use the plastic drinking spout - yet if untwist to drink from canteen, this could pose a problem.

Don't worry that China made plastic smell does go away...in about two weeks, and do not leave it in the car. It just lingers for days after being warm... I give it two stars, not all items (ie. coupons) fit and the pockets are so small they can't fit too much.
:D
PS After purchasing it and living with the smell, no way would I have this kangaroo keep to touch my expensive purses...

This is so funny to me. Reminds me of the Seinfield show when his car starts smelling like body odor that came from a valet parking man. He had to sell the car to get rid of the smell. They said the smell was an "entity". LOL. :D

I've tried the Nuwave and the Flavorwaves (from Boscov's, it's our regional version of Belk's that carries a ton of ASOTV stuff). They're supposed to be like mini ovens that don't take up much space for single meals. I tried them out, almost immediately took them back, and invested in a toaster oven instead... and actually the toaster oven was much cheaper  (It did catch all the excess fat and everything like it was supposed to, but then again so does a mini George Forman). Just my $.02.

The Handy Caddy (https://www.asseenontv.com/prod-pages/handy_caddy_ood_ontv.html) is awesome! I was one of those people that always had to move my coffee maker around on the counter to use it so this thing is great. I use it for my 4 cup coffee maker though, so I have no idea how well it would work for bigger/heavier appliances.

I wanted to let everyone know that I got one of these from Target about 2 weeks ago and it works GREAT! My dog is 8 years old and was never much of a barker until she spent a few days with my folks. They have 5 weenie dogs that bark ALL THE TIME and I swear, they taught her how to bark.
Anyhow, she was barking at the doorbell, visitors, squirrels she could see through the windows, and even my husband and kids coming through the door. I love the watchdog aspect but it had gotten to the point that I was throwing shoes at her.

Go for it! I have 2 myself because I loved the first one so much. You just have to make sure it isn't wet when you use it. Supposed to wash them when they get dirty too, but I'm not sure why they wouldn't work with stains on them.
Not sure if the knock off brands work as well, since both of mine are name brand.

I wasn't expecting a reply so quickly. Thanks a ton! I appreciate the non-wet and washing info. I'm going for the original so no problems there.

The Wonder Hanger is Awesome! It really does triple your closet space.
It includes 8 hangers per package. (40 items) I give it 5 stars!
Be careful because there is another Wonder hanger for over the door, & only includes 1 hanger in it. Both boxes look alike.
Heeltastic was purchased at graveyard mall. I give it a 3.
Dryer Balls purchased at dollar tree, work great at taking wrinkles out. I give them a 4.
Magic Bullet is Fantastic, but takes up a lot of space. (Lots of attachments,cups,etc...) I give it a 4.
Smooth away & knock off brand from Dollar tree work well. I would not pay high price for Smooth away again though. I give the knock off brand a 4.
Pedipaws scares my 20 lb dog, but she did put up with it a few times. Because I immediately purchased the extra replaceable sandpaper cartridges I've been using the pedipaws to file my acrylic nails between fills at the nail salon.
I rate it 1 for dogs and rate it 4 to file acrylic nails.

they are very good but aren't one size as advertised
I have little hands (I'm 5'3/4" on a good day  ) and have finger bones to match
my top knuckle reaches the finger opening so it would be dangerous for me to wear the thing with so much excess flapping around
I use as pot holder. Not quite as effective when can't cover whole hand
fave ASOTV item to date is the pillow. I can stick it behind me and even if not in quite the right place it conforms so well it's never uncomfortable
I drag it around the house with me like an oversized bracelet

Anyone have a review on the pedipaws for use on dogs?
My dog wouldn't let me anywhere near her with it, she doesn't like the noise. I know a bunch of people that have bought it for their dogs and only one person who's dog actually lets him use it.

IDK on the coupon but, check radio shack too, they carry it.

Pancake Puffs review
We picked up a Pancake Puffs pan for $2.50(75% off) from CVS during X-Mas clearance. Pretty good quality, it's a solid cast iron pan. As with any cast iron stuff, season it before use (wiki how (http://www.wikihow.com/Season-Cast-Iron-Cookware)). This pan does come with a recipe book, we didn't try out any recipes from the book. We made Hong Kong egg puffs instead, similar to this link (http://www.tinyurbankitchen.com/2010/02/chinese-egg-puffs.html) and link (http://www.hklightbox.com/2008/08/egg-puffs). Very good results, use toothpicks or bamboo skewers to flip the balls. You can also make Takoyaki (Japanese fish balls) with it. The pan is pretty much a Danish Ebleskiver pan, see this link (http://www.tinyurbankitchen.com/2009/12/bleskivers-and-takoyaki-chinese-egg.html) for more info on ball pans. Very happy with this cheap purchase, but not worth more than $10 since it has limited uses.

ok got the shake weight in the mail...my first instinct was to return it...not sure why but out of the box I thought this is so stupid...but I decided to use it the following day and then decide...well...its a keeper...my dog tore my rotor cuff a few years ago and I have been a baby about using my shoulders...the shake weight comes with a 6 minute dvd workout and it was enough to feel some burn but more important it feels like the muscle opened up so I will stick with it....it will not make me Lou Ferrigno (inc. hulk) but my shoulders feel better/different...
the low down on the item ...white plastic grip with a wrapped spring on each side connected to 2.5 lb weight on each side...the movement out of the box made me want to return it but after watching the dvd it is ok....can be used standing or sitting but standing feels better for me...my fitness level would be novice...I walk a 5 mile park 4-5 times a week and have a small trampoline I use while watching TV...you probly could beat me up...but I would take you down in your sleep....HTH

I thought about buying one of these for my dad, but he'd probably say he has to still pick his feet up to dry them.
Does it stay attached to the tub bottom really well? If so, would it make a good anchor to put both feet into even if you're just standing in the shower to prevent slip and falls?

No name change here!
Older people are not suppose to try to use it standing up (that is in the instructions).
I placed it on the side wall of the tub so my Mom could use it easily.
But yea, there are several suction cups on the bottom of it, and it shouldn't slide if it is stuck good and you don't apply too much weight/pressure.
I would not recommend standing in 2 of them b/c you would make the bristles lay down and then they'd be no good

I did a search for Yoshi blade in this thread and nothing came up.
I got one at Rite Aid recently and love it for trimming and cutting chicken. It's not supposed to be used on any meat that has bones, I guess it could nick the blade. But I was making chicken nuggets out of skinless, boneless breasts, and it was awesome for that. I used to have lots of trouble getting rid of small pieces of fat the store leaves on some chicken pieces, but this knife took them off very easily. I am hoping it works as well on fresh bread, so I won't have to deal with crumbling or torn slices anymore. It also isn't supposed to be used to chop vegetables, but it works really well to slice potatoes. Very happy with my purchase, and I haven't even tried the ceramic bladed peeler it comes with. If it works just as well, I'll be making dinner from scratch more often.

But you also said older people aren't supposed to use it standing up, so my dad couldn't use it in the shower at all. I guess they are afraid of elderly people falling if they are standing and the suction quits and takes their foot with it frontwards or backwards. :(
Which reminds me, the moveable handle grip ASOTV for use in the tub is useless. It won't stay on my wall or the side of the tub because neither surface is flat enough for the suction cups on the end to attach to.

I guess it would be okay if he had something to hold onto.
He could always sit on the side of the tub and use it!
We have a bar that actually is screwed into the wall beside the tub/shower. Those movable handle grips do move! We have one of those too and do not rely on it.
Mom has one of these (http://www.mountainside-medical.com/products/Bath-Tub-Gripper-Handle.html) on the side of the tub

Draft Guard - My mom bought this from BB&B and returned it. I guess it was too loose? It never stayed put adn the material seemed cheap.
I on the other hand, bought the Duck brand one that is made out of a velvet or velour material. It was a very tight fit but there is no way air is getting past it. I highly recommend it.
Topsy Turvey - My mom got one from Walgreens and I got her one from Brylane. They both worked just fine. I am guessing they would ahve worked great if she had put them in the view of sunlight. 1/2 the tomatoes thrived...and those were the ones that had access to the sun.
I bought myself 2 of them from Office Depot a few weeks back for $4 each after 20% brown bag discount. I plan on using them this summer.
Brownie Maker - I read a tip to use a muffin pan and it worked so well I never bought this. Each muffin has the nice chewier edges but the insides are moist. YUMMY!
Ped-Egg - My mom swears by this but I can't being myself to grate my feet. >:P

I've only bought a couple of items from the ASOTV section, but here ya go:
PedEgg - LOVE it, can't live without it in the summertime. I use it between pedicures, and it's perfect. Of course you should READ THE DIRECTIONS so as not to hurt yourself. If used properly, all the rough spots are gone in a few seconds with no pressure applied. Throw a little lotion on and you look like you're straight from the salon. ;) worth every penny!
Smooth Away - works great. Again, read the directions! I don't end up using it much though, because frankly it takes about the same time as shaving and you realllly have to apply lotion afterward because your legs will look ashy. So if you're considering it as a time-saver...don't. I end up using it for touch ups; spots I missed while shaving, or if I suddenly decide to wear capris or something and haven't shaved lately. Worth the money if you get it on a sale or w/ ECBs, etc...IMHO

I bought the Total Pillow this summer, it has those tiny white beads inside of it. How do I know? After owning it all of about 10 hours, we found little tiny white beads in different places. We figured out it had 'sprung a leak' after sleeping on it one night. :(
So my experience is a full two thumbs DOWN!

I forgot to give my 2 cetns about the Bottle Tops.
Hated Them.
Well, let me correct that....I loved the ORIGINAL ones. My mom has them and they screwed on which makes all the difference in the world. The ones they sell now are flip-tops and they suck. I tipped a can over on my mattress and it leaked everywhere. They are impossible to get off. I ended up crushing every can and then they wouldn't go through the automated redemption machines.
When I was in line buying them, a woman told me, "Those are terrible. Don't waste your money." I didn't listen to her because I thouht they were the same ones my mom had. I used Walgreens Register Rewards so I'm out the money. Grr....
