I have been doing my research in the past two months, for my trip going out on 5/10/08 and returning on 5/26/08... from Seattle to Hong Kong.

The cheapest I have seen so far is around $1000~ for HK. @992 to be exact, with vayama.com

And I've heard you can get tickets to either places around ~$600-700 on the cheaper end!
I personally prefer the Star Alliance (United, Asiana, Air Canada etc) cuz i have miles with them..

Anyone have any good advice? or sites that I should visit?

I have already check the usual priceline/vayama/statravel and even united, eva, china airline and etc..

Have you tried Priceline.com [I]Name Your Own Price[I]? If the time you leave or arrive is flexible (you can choose to leave on specific days) than you can get some great deals. I've had nothing buy great experiences.

i've used vayama twice and had no problems, the only downside is that you get your confirmation 24 hours after you purchase on their website so you have to factor that in when making plans

I beat this by about $150 in September flying Southwest Airlines going down there, and USA3000 (from Tampa) coming back..

Neither Airline's rates show up on most of the Travel Comparison sites..

from Southwest's website, download their own application called Ding! You'll get daily notices from them on any specials of which I've seen LAX/Burbank $41 airfare from either Oakland or San Jose. I've been able to fly to San Diego for $39 each way and a deal to Seattle for $59! I'm still looking for their special fares to New Orleans this summer. Good luck.

Ok I am trying to find cheap travel to Whitefish Montana from September 18th to the 21st (Possible to fly out the 17th if really needed but rather not or 19th not as big a deal but I am stuck with getting back to Houston on the 21st). I have two options that I am trying to work out.

First option is flying out of Houston (either airport) to Kalispell and I am seeing cheapest of 473 from Delta. This is round trip and within the days I need to be within.

Another option is houston to spokane and then driving the 4+ hours to Kalispell. This flight is 355 or so from southwest. Now added onto this is the gas which I took we would need 25 gallons round trip at an estimate of 4.5 to 5 bucks a gallon (guessing it keeps going up) split between 2 giving around 50-70 bucks each added to the flight.

With these prices I am finding I am inclined to pay just for the direct flight as it saves a good amount of time and honestly the total difference does seem worth it for the driving. I was hoping anyone else here who knew the work-arounds could check and see if they could find anything better as if we can save 100 + bucks on the spokane flight (or hey save on the direct flight) I would much appreciate it.

An alternative to driving from Spokane to Whitefish would be to take Amtrak (http://www.amtrak.com). The Empire Builder runs through there, and the fare would be about $37 each way (less if you're AAA or there's a special). That compares favorably with renting a car in Spokane.

When we went to NY we did exactly that. We did the double decker bus. It takes you all over you can hop on hop off and are able to see the whole city quickly. Most broadway shows have a drawing for first row seats for 20.00 dollars. Head to the theaters a couple hours before the show and ask when they do the drawings. I saw Wicked this way. It

The owners at The Chimes are great folks! They are perfect hosts to this wonderful town. We rented 2 rooms that connected and their rates were affordable - though I can't recall what it was at this time. If they have no rooms available, try Beau Sejour. We stayed there several years ago and also love it - they were booked during our summer trip (their also a B&B). There's a funky New Orleans style hotel - old with a central courtyard - called Olivier House located right on Bourbon Street. We've stayed there and also liked it. I've read mixed reviews on this place, but I would recommend them.

Unfortunately I can't tell you packages because I don't trust travel agents. I can tell you some good advice about that area if you are on budget. Sometimes it pays just to put together your own itinerary and with some planning you can save almost as much money with increased flexibility.

Playa Del Carmen is smack in between Cancun and Cozumel. You can access both cities from Playa and it's cheaper than either one of those cities overall for hotels (although it's quieter than Cancun).

I stayed at Fiesta Banana for $50/nite in June of this year. It will be more now because of high season. Take the ferry from Playa to Cozumel around $25 round trip. The ferry's leave every hour on the hour. Don't worry if you just miss the ferry and the next one doesn't leave for another 2 hours (which happened to me). You can get a refund on your ticket and use the money to buy another ticket for the very next ferry which will likely leave in about an hour.

From Playa you can take the ADO bus from the bus station to Cancun for like $8 or something like that. It takes about 40 minutes. Taxis are cheap, do not pay more than $3.50 US equivalent to go anywhere in Playa, at least thats the rule I used when I was there.

When I stayed in Cancun I stayed at the Radisson for $100/nite. It was very nice with a very good restaurant inside. It's far from the strip, but the cost to ride the bus is next to nothing, like the equivalent of .75 cents US or something. It's a good 15-20 min bus ride to where the action is in Cancun but it's worth it as you'll pay through the nose if you stay there.

Singapore Airlines
and Korea Airlines.

Singapore Air flies only from S.F. (though can comes back to LAX? Something like that) While Korea goes through LA. So I would look for Singapore Airlines (through their website) for International, how to get to SF, you need to look that up.

I prefer Singapore Airlines - really nice comfort, service, food. It might cost you 80 dollars more, but it is worth it.
Korean Air has been always the cheapest to Seoul.
Both arrive at the new Inchon airport instead of Kimpo.
You can also check out Asiana airlines, they are so-so.

My preference to Korea would be.
Singapore Airlines, Korean Airlines, or Asiana. All 3 have a major hub there.

I am in a BIG bind. My girlfriend whom I have been with for over 3 years and love very much became very ill last year :( Sadly, like many of us young people our here in the US, she did not have great health insurence so the costs would have been in the hundreds of thousands potentially for her care.

She was born in Germany, and has lived in the US for about 10 years now since she was a teenager. The good news is she has been treated and is doing better, I will be able to see her in aug, and she can stay here for 6 months :O before having to go back for a while...

I am not rich, and she of course has not worked not for quite a while... so money is quite tight, as a teacher I dont make allot. I will also have to help her quite a bit to get back on her feet, as she has quite a bit of debt from this ordeal.

Has anyone stayed at any of the Beaches all inclusive family resorts? We are hoping to go at the end of January, either to Jamaica or Turks & Caicos. Is it too early to book a deal? (I have tried about 10 different search engines and can't find a deal.) There will be 3adults and a 2 year old. Will rep for helpful advice.

i haven't but i'm going to; it seems like an extremely nice place, i would say turks and caicos would be the best; it is usually better to book early (i think the minimum is 30 days before your trip) because they are selling their rooms out fast; the current deal is on their site, it is something like stay there 7 days, get a day free, or 65% off, something like that

I agree that Turks/Caicos looks the nicest. However, the airfare to Turks/Caicos is about$2000 more expensive than Jamaica (for the 4 of us), which is our only problem in going there. I can't seem to find any cheaper airfare.

Does anyone here know of a way to search for cheap LAST-MINUTE flights from your departure location only? I am not looking for a destination... just the cheapest possible getaway from San Diego. I want to "run away" for fun and travel some place random with my husband for an adventure. I am turning 25 tomorrow and want to know if there are cheap ways to fill up spots on airplanes last-minute. I've heard that they don't have "standby" tickets nowadays. I know that some sites let you buy cheaper tickets as long as you commit to anytime during your selected days, but I believe those require a destination and may not be as cheap as I need. If anyone can please lend a hand, I am looking to leave Friday or Saturday departing from San Diego - returning on Monday the 7th. I'd prefer to go somewhere on the east coast, as I've never really traveled farther than New Mexico. I'm looking to spend around $400... for the 2 of us. If no one knows of a cool search tool or website, I will probably settle for driving the new car somewhere... just don't really have the time to drive as far as I'd like. hopefully can afford to attend a wedding on June 26, 2010 in Anchorage Alaska. I have yet to look at the links from the first post but i figured i could put up my plans and get some people tips and tricks before just reading the sites. I am wanting to probably fly out thursday june 24 (aren't thursdays usually much cheaper than fridays?) and return sunday (possibly monday depending on my work schedule at the time).

i was told the following about prices to alaska:
under $500--a great deal--something I'd take right away
under $600--pretty good, worth taking if you don't want to gamble
under $700--still decent; could do worse if you wait
over $700--not so great.
but i don't think this person is a SDer so he may be naive. can anyone here chip in on what prices are too good to let pass if i should see it?

being that this trip is not for another nine months, i'm hoping to be able to get a steal for a price. also need hotel room.
