CA tax + recycle fee?

$150 is probably the normal price for a 23" monitor I believe
Staples had acer 23" monitors for $150 before in the past and less with coupons.

Review:Have had this monitor for over 6 months now and love it. Big enough to have two documents open side by side which greatly improves productivity.

Actually waiting for it to go back on sale to purchase a second one to enable me to keep up to four pages or documents readable on the screen at the same time.

Quoting one reviewer from one of the links:

"I got the Dell S2309W 23" monitor 9/15/09. It's ok for downloading tv programs. Set up was easy. But it's colors are not vivid and I suffer eye strain when reading text on it. (No problems reading text on my old Gateway monitor.) Viewing angles are EXTREMELY narrow. The base is big and clumsy requiring additional two inches of accomodating space between the back of the monitor and the wall immediately behind it. When I called Dell to return it, they offered me a subtstantial additional discount to keep it. It's now selling at $160 with free freight. I suspect Dell is not proud of this monitor. Sorry I can not recommend it if you do a lot of text reading, word processing and spread sheet work."

Killerz

Should I pull the trigger on this or could I get something noticeably better for $50 more? I do a lot of gaming and that is my main concern. Second to that, I do a lot of email, word processing, and internet viewing so it needs to have crisp text. I would like vertical adjust but most monitors I see today don't have it.

What do you think?

You buy a DVI to HDMI Cable and use it for xbox, thats what i do with my current one.

Because the Governator said so!

Isn't it techinically dell that is being charged? And we pay the fee. We don't have to pay the fee, I've seen alot of companies in CA not charge the tax. Also the funny thing is most landfills will accept the tv's for free but won't pick them up with the rest of your trash unless you pay another fee. Our area allows 2 pick ups a year but it also depends on how the bastard trash man feels that day. We schedule large items and it's varies whether he'll pick it up and there's nothing you can do if he doesn't except wait or drop it off yourself.

Just to clarify for some people. Dell now sends an "Order Acknowledgment" before allowing the order into the system. With that you get a "Dell Purchase ID" and not an actual order number. If they allow the order to go through, you will then get a "Order Confirmation" email with an "Order Number". If you get the "Order Confirmation" email, it means they've allowed the order into the system and you will get an "Order Number" and it will ship. You'll always get an "Order Acknowledgment" email no matter how outrageous the price is. What you want is the "Order Confirmation" email with an "Order Number".

In for 2.... added 2 to my cart while they were still in stock, went away from the page to look at reviews, came back through the SD link and saw they were OOS, then realized I still had them in cart. Went through checkout and price stayed at $89.99ea. Guess I got lucky, got an order confirm with the correct price, but I'll be checking to make sure they don't try to slip them in at regular price.

I have no idea because the only two times I tried a Dell price mistake deal it never got that far. The last one I got in on was the $20 printer which got canceled. So never received an "Order Confirmation" email for that. The other deal I got in on was about a year ago which was a 32" Vizio 1080p HDTV for $99. That was canceled but at that time they didn't have this safety net of sending out an "Order Acknowledgment" before a confirmation. They now review every order before allowing it into the system and issuing an order number. I have no idea if this is a legit deal or mistake. See with this new system there's no chance of orders ever "slipping through". They review every order and either allow it to go through or not.

Please do explain... When did slickdeals become about being the first and grabbing everything you can in a selfish attempt to make every buck you can? I thought the whole point of sharing a slickdeal was: "Hey, I found this great deal. There's this great deal over here, come get it before it's gone!"

If you just want to grab them all and resell then why the hell would you post a deal? EXACTLY. The antithesis of slickdeals is horaders. Share with everyone, and they will share with you. That is what slickdeals is about.

Well...
If this was real, I'm in a real world of pain right now. I paid 160 for this monitor 4 weeks back. :( I wonder if I can get a price match.

Steal... I got this for $119 after the ebay Cashback in Dec (it was $149 then).

It's a great monitor.

Do I need more examples? The MSRP isn't the price most people pay for something typically...

Not really...
read: http://www.practical-home-theater-guide.com/contrast-ratio.html

Do not get carried away with big contrast numbers. The eye dynamic response is the limiting factor; at any one point in time, you would not be able to perceive a contrast ratio of more than at most 1,000:1 - irrespective of display...Despite what might seem to be a huge difference in absolute terms between say a 1,000:1 and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, you will have to view the image in a completely dark room to perceive the resultant minimal difference in picture performance. Paying extra just to enjoy a higher contrast ratio is just waste of money.

Not exactly. Just blinded by the excitement of the deal. It says everything I explained right in the order acknowledgment email. But some people are so excited by getting that email they skip over all that and come here and post "OMG I got an order confirmation! Saweeeeeet! They're gonna ship it!" Hawaii actually. I really want a monitor but shipping always kills it because of where I live.

You live in a GREAT area! What are you complaining about!?!?! :omg:

no cancellations yet.
normally, they send out cancellations pretty quick right?

Nope, last time I got the $13 Dell printer deal... I didn't get anything, people called, nothing for days. Then about 4 days later we all get cancelled.

Its pretty obvious this is going down the same path :shake:
I mean, its a computer company... you would think as soon as they turn off the deal there would be an instant mass amount of cancel emails sent, no?

Hrm, I see the cancellation debate is still raging...

Oh well. My last "OMG THIS WILL BE CANCELLED" deal from Dell actually shipped, albeit it was almost a month late... (it was the 1.5TB WD Elements for 79.99 shipped from Jan 8th if anyone cares)

I almost wish I was up that early to get in on this deal.

Then again, Dell does have a notorious reputation for cancellations.
I would be quite upset if I woke up extra early just to order this, then found out it got canceled. (I hate waking up early)

I have a feeling that they were indeed offering $150 off for the Dell Daily Deal, but that the MSRP of $239 when we ordered was supposed to read "$299" instead (which it says now).

I could be wrong but there is really no excuse for a daily deal having a typo, in the past people were saying that they were told the mistake was due to their automated system but those were on regular priced products. This one was a daily deal, you would think they would plan this and create the listing on their own. I don't know it just doesn't seem like one, remember the black friday deals $100 is hot but not unbelievable for a 23.

With at least two people reporting cancellations it doesn't look good, but my order still says "Order is Pending" so I guess miracles could happen.

In a perfect world, everyone who got 1 or 2 for actual personal use would get shipped, and all the mongers trying to rip everyone else off who ordered 5 - 10 would get cancellations...

I can dream, can't I?

You are so right. Its a daily deal. It is discussed in marketing meetings.
That's BS to make cancellations for a reason that it is automated pricing.
I have to call BS on that.

Yes. Order was cancelled.

Funny, because I didn't think that was such an outrageous price for that monitor. It's only about $20 to $30 lower than it has been in other recent sales. I don't think they would be losing enough money to warrant canceling orders this time. Seems stupid.

BTW: I didn't order because I don't need one and I didn't think it was THAT great a deal to get a spare. Although I thought about getting one for a relative.

Microcenter did exactly what you suggested when they listed their memory too cheaply. All the single orders got filled, the multi-orders were canceled.

5-10 what! these aren't even ebayable, this wasn't a crazy deal just a deal where if you were in the market for a monitor you should have jumped on it. I can't believe they are cancelling these though seriously something has to be done because this is happening every week. And who is posting these deals, are people just refreshing through their site, how are they constantly finding these. No one browses dell, They're shipping and prices sucks. Amazon I understand how people find mistakes but not dell. Originally I was with the crowd who thought it wasn't a big deal but after reading up on banks toc's when you receive a pending charge it's not just a pending charge, that money is no longer yours. Before I figured it was just pending, which it really is but according to the bank it's no longer your cash. So overdraw, late, finance, all those fee's still apply. And sometimes the charge has been left on my account for 4-5 weeks. I was also talking to my friend his is a business finance major and he told me smaller companies have gotten in trouble in the past for a lot smaller things than this.

NO ONE HAS RECEIVED A CANCELLATION NOR A SHIPPING CONFIRMATION YET.

Anyone who claims otherwise is trolling and can't provide proof. Calm down, people.

Its very likely that this deal was legit. And if not, oh well - thats just how shit goes sometimes. When you are looking for a deal that is too good to be true, sometimes you find one. Welcome to SlickDeals.

hobojon, you are the only one that keeps insisting on a canceled order, how about posting something as proof, nobody believes you. You are new with no rep, and only 8 posts (half of which in this thread). If your trolling gtfo, if you have actual proof then post it and stop making pointless 1-5 word posts.

I myself ordered one this morning and haven't received any kind of conf or cancel email, only the acknowledgment email.

I haven't been able to pull it up under my account though which doesn't look good. Usually this makes it to that pretty quickly, no?

this sale price includes a three year warranty!! the $20-$30 difference from the ONE year warranty monitor!

Mine is in the shipping stage :) I was one of the first to order and I went for the one day shipping option, not the free 3 day one.. I'm getting 3 of them and hooking them up to my dual graphics cards I bought on here a while back :) $300 for three :) What a slickdeal.

Ordered 10 (2 x 5) in 2 separate orders. I just got off the phone with Ghandi from India and it looks like good to go for at least one order. Not bothering to call for the second order. It took more than 20 minutes to talk to the right person.

This thread really has brought out the a**holes, hasn't it. Well done to all those that ordered 5-10 of these things. Others who found the deal expired so quickly are all deeply endebted to you. And they're also keen to hear your boasts - that makes them really warm to you.

What is wrong with buying 10? It was Daily Deal of the Day. It was no secret.

what phone number you called?

Their regular CR #. First, they took me to the operator, then to another useless CR and his supervisor, followed by Ghandi who told me all good to go. Orders still not showing up in my accounts yet though.

I placed an order for 4 because my wife works for an attorney who is too cheap to get his staff a good sized monitor (still using a 14" flat screen) so I needed all four. I called Dell this morning and the woman I spoke with said that the order was canceled. She said that I must have entered the order wrong but my PayPal account was charged and I received an order acknowledgment (not a confirmation) same as the rest of you folks. She said that I would receive an email providing more details within 2 hrs. Nothing arrived. This afternoon, I call and there was not record associated with my Order ID. Got bounced around for an hour in Dell's phone he!! and I gave up. Would like to hear if you received your order confirmation.

While I agree it's a douchebag move to buy 10 and then brag about it, there was no rule against it. If Dell cared they would limit to 1 or 2. If you went to target and they had PS3 on clearance for $10, would you buy only one? I know I wouldn't. That being said, I only ordered 1 and hope it goes through.

To find out the status of your order using the Dell Purchase ID in email go to Order Status and enter the ID and the zip code. It will give you a status. Mine says "Order is Pending" - whatever is taking them so long (to confirm or cancel)
