Citibank has some nice 'extras'. I really do prefer to use a virtual number when shopping online. Every month you earn cash points that can be used to buy discounted merchandise. Strange as it may seem, just remember that applying for a new card can make your credit rating go down.

card-wise, it's a fair bonus, at least it's not chase. so many firsthand disappointments with chase.

Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card
Get a $100 statement credit after $300 in purchases within the first 3 months of membership, and 0% APR on balance transfers and purchases for up to 15 months with No Annual Fee*
Sounds like a decent deal.

This is better than that Sony deal for PS3 they had as it would apply to anything purchased. I actually enjoy the online services offered by Citi card compared to a lot of other companies as the summary of account actually includes current APR unlike other companies that hide it and I have to download the current statement to review it on the last page of the statement.

i currently have the citi dividend card and have found it to be a relatively neutral experience. Nothing too great about it but nothing bad. The cash back checks from the dividend card do get sent out promptly once you've requested it from the website.
You can find out how to redeem the thank you points from here
https://www.thankyou.com/common/popups/faq.jsp?section=how_to_redeem
Personally I prefer cash-back vs the points, as you're not locked into thankyou rewards site for redemption. A hundred bucks when you spend 300 is pretty good though.
...here's hoping on that ipad!
edit: seems you can redeem those points for cash. tempting offer..

My odds are currently 1 in 2,264 not too bad I guess.
The 0% on balance transfers is amazing considering my wife just forgot to pay her Southwest statement and now the interest rate is at 20%. It's definitely time for a balance transfer.

if citi hasn't been continually changing my citi dividend card term, i would have considered another citibank card. but for now, i wouldn't consider citi for credit card. i will just take the ipad, thank you.

Wow, looks like a good deal. I currently use CITI and have been satisfied, although I don't have this card yet.
Looks like a cool card, and I love the look of the black style card.
The sign up offer here on SD is better with the $100 offer. A regular google search yields a $50 sign up offer only, with the summary being:
"6,000 bonus ThankYou® Points when you spend $300 within the first 3 months, redeemable for a $50 Gift Card at select national merchants
5 ThankYou Points for every $1 spent on purchases at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations for 12 months; 1 point thereafter
1 ThankYou Point for every $1 spent on all other purchases"
The SD promo offer link is better for the initial bonus, but has a bit less it seems for the ThankYou points offering:
"$100 Statement Credit after qualifying purchase**
0% APR on balance transfers and purchases for up to 15 months, based on your application and credit history*
1 ThankYou Point for every $1 spent on all purchases
No annual fee"
I'm gonna sign up for a card through the SD offer.
*Deal alert added too!*
I'd love to win that iPad as well! Good luck to everyone...

I used to like the rewards offered through the card, but lately it seems like they're cutting back on the rewards. Seems like there are fewer merchants offering gift cards through the ThankYou rewards now. And the cost in points is going up since they cut back on the higher value gift cards that were a better deal, and forcing you to buy smaller denominations that cost more.

I just got a Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card (copy paste ftw, the name is a mouthful). I like the online access for paying my card, maybe my credit will be good enough for one of these Diamond cards at one point.
$100 back on $300 you plan to spend anyway is pretty nice. Get yourself anything ~$300.00 and it's basically a $100 rebate.

As of February 19, 2010, the standard variable APR for purchases is 12.99% Rate 1, 16.99% Rate 2, or 20.99% Rate 3 in that order based on our review of your application and credit history. The standard APR for cash advances is a variable 25.24%. In order to receive the $100 statement credit, you must make at least $300 in purchases that are not returned within the first 3 months of account opening. The statement credit will appear on the card billing statement after the purchase has posted to the card account, not on the receipt. Please expect to see your statement credit within 8 weeks of end of promotion period.
*** ThankYou® Network
Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card Terms and Conditions
• ThankYou Network is offered to certain cardmembers ("you") at the sole discretion of Citibank (South Dakota), N.A. ("we"), the issuer of your card account ("Card Account"). ThankYou Network or any portion thereof may be revised or terminated with 30 days prior written notice. Any revisions may affect your ability to use the ThankYou Points you have already accumulated. If ThankYou Network is terminated, you will only have 90 days from the termination date to redeem all your accumulated ThankYou Network points ("ThankYou Points"). However, ThankYou Network rewards may be changed or substituted, as well as ThankYou Point levels required for specific ThankYou Network rewards adjusted, at any time without prior notification.
• You will earn one ThankYou® Point for every dollar you spend on purchases unless the offer to which you responded has a different ThankYou Point earning description. Only purchases are eligible to earn ThankYou Points. Personal banking transactions you make using your card will earn only 1 ThankYou Point even if the offer to which you responded has a different ThankYou Point earning description. If the offer to which you responded allows you to earn additional ThankYou Points at supermarkets, drug stores and gas stations, they are defined as follows: Supermarkets are stand-alone merchants that primarily sell a complete line of food merchandise for home consumption. Drugstores are stand-alone merchants that primarily sell prescription and proprietary drugs and nonprescription (over-the-counter) medicines. Gas stations are stand-alone merchants that primarily sell vehicle fuel for consumer use.
• Purchases not eligible to receive the additional points include, but are not limited to, purchases made at warehouse clubs, discount stores and convenience stores. Online and catalog purchases are not eligible to receive additional ThankYou Points unless the merchants appropriately identify the transactions.
• We do not determine whether merchants appropriately identify all transactions you make on your Card Account, but we do reserve the right to determine which purchases qualify for ThankYou Points. You can earn up to 75,000 ThankYou Points during any calendar year (eligible purchases appearing on your January-December billing statements). You may only earn ThankYou Points on your Card Account as long as it is open and current. ThankYou Points expire five years from the end of the month in which they are earned unless ThankYou Network is terminated.
• If you are approved for a Card Account, a ThankYou Network Member Account ("ThankYou Member Account") will be set up for you. ThankYou Points post to your Card Account at the close of each billing cycle, and at that time we will transfer the ThankYou Points you earned to your ThankYou Member Account. ThankYou Points are not eligible for redemption until they are transferred to your ThankYou Member Account. ThankYou Points may not be redeemed and may be lost if your Card Account is not open or current.
† Price Protection coverage is underwritten by Triton Insurance Company. (Coverage is limited to $250 per item and a maximum of $1,000 per cardmember per year.) Certain conditions, restrictions and exclusions apply. Details of coverage will be provided upon cardmembership.

Did you know the average person spends an extra 8% when they shop with a credit card vs. cash? That means when you spend the $300 to get the free $100, you've already blown through 25% of that 'free money' - and that doesn't count the eventual fees & interest that most people pay. Citi loves your money. I love a free i pad!
