I am looking to buy Blu-Ray player.
Mainly for watching online streaming and blu-ray movies.
Should i go for PS3 or any other wifi supported blu-ray player?
(My TV doesnt have wifi or LAN port, TV model LG LH90)
I heard its easy to be upto date with PS3 because of the firmware updates.
Not planning to play any games any time soon.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Go for HD. It is much better than blu-ray.

The PS3 can only do legacy codec bitstream. Plus you are forced to use the bluetooth remote. I think you're better off with a dedicated player with lots of features (LG).
And yes.. I own a PS3

Plus you are forced to use the bluetooth remote.
I'm pretty sure this is incorrect as you can buy a Logitech PS3 adapter.

PS3 updates. most BR players dont.
As others have stated, the PS3 can do updates but is more expensive. Of course, it's also a gaming console and can be a multimedia center for your videos and pictures. It can also do the internet and has its own browser....not that good but it does work.
Dedicated Blu-ray players are now cheaper. You can now get one for about $100 or so. However, I'm not sure if you can update all the new firmware with dedicated players. I have a PS3 and a LG player. I haven't run into any problems with the LG player not being able to play newer movies. However, I never do the BD-Live feature.

Depends if you are willing to pay the extra price for the ability to play games, or if you want/need something to act as a media center. You can get a decent BR player for $100, so its quite a bit more for a PS3.

I didnt see any deal for BR player for $100 with wifi build-in. Maybe i missed., Good one i saw so far is Sony's 570 for $170.
I appreciate if you can share any links to BR player for $100. (even if deal is expired, so i can see the reviews for the player and wait for it)
Last month Dell was having PS3 120GB for $230+Tax after BCB. (I know no more BCB)
So i thought if difference between BR player and PS3 is just $50-60 i like to go with PS3 bcos of its update and browser :)
If its $100 difference i will go with BR Player.
Once again thanks for all replies, and looking forward to hear more :)

The PS3 can only do legacy codec bitstream.
This is also incorrect, the new PS3 slims can do bitstreaming with TrueHD and DTS-HD

Buy a BD-ROM and install it in an HTPC instead.
