I would have to disagree on that request. Before the rep points system was implemented, people still posted deals on a regular basis. As far as I know, nobody ever complained about not being appreciated for their effort if no "Thanks!" was given, if anything, many peope praised the posters on their efforts. When the rep system was put into place, it only pissed off a bunch of people.

I agree with Radish and hunterr83. Rep points don't mean a thing.

One thing I was displeased with the Rep point system (and I'm sure many have experienced this) is that negative pts were given posts that did not relate to why the negative point was given. Also people didn't comment why they gave negative points. And finally, some people gave negative points for no apparent reason at all.

Even if you take away the ability to give negative points, what good comes from having a whole bunch of positive points? I'm pretty sure people can secure representation by just being helpful and what not. There are a lot of people here I recognize as 'regulars' of SD that I can confidently say they have my respects.

No incentive? I didn't have any when I signed up, and I don't really care if Hax0rMonKEy49 in Omaha thinks I'm a tool, or I'm cool. I'm still me, and I'm here to save money. :D

I joined after the rep points had been removed, and I personally don't see the point of them. What good do they do you? None at all, as far as I can tell. They're more useless than the posting levels. What point is/was there in them?

Rep points were amusing, source of conflict / way of telling ppl what you thought / way of indicating that they did something great or unacceptable.

But now I get to be a dick and also get to disagree with ppl without getting dinged on rep points.

That's exactly how I felt. I would like to see rep points come back just so we can watch all these uptight pansies get bent out of shape because someone gave them negative points. # of posts is good. don't know how the hell some of you have ~3000 posts since joining. don't you have life elsewhere? i like knowing the lazy ass scammers. they come posts 1 or 2 and you never hear from them again (hoping you'll bite), or they come back in different form, same tricks up their sleeve though.
