I see some good sweepstakes from time to time but don't know where to post them.

a lot more split than i would have thought. its just that they have such poor odds in the first case. putting it on slickdeals won't help your odds. not worth it in my eyes even if it is a good prize.

I think that would be a good idea. Some of them you can play once a day and they have instant win prizes. Those would be great to have in a forum.

I also wish we had a place for reward programs. I do tons of them.

Sounds like a good idea to me. The more the merrier! As long as people are willing to post contests and sweepstakes, I'm all for it. As for those who voted "No," all I can suggest is that once the Sweepstakes/Contests forum is up, don't visit it and you'll be fine.

How about a contest/sweepstakes forum where you can post links to enter? I won $200 in an Old Navy/American Idol sweepstakes awhile back, and it would be nice to have a place to post these links since I do not think they really belong in Freebies.

After pondering a bit on this one, I have changed my mind to - YES!

I think it would be cool to post the good contest / sweepstakes / whatever. It would also be nice to see how many SlickDealers get in on these types of things.

I would also like to be able to place a face... errr... ummm... an avatar, on some of the winners of these things!

Doesn't seem like there would be anything to lose, so why not? At least everyone could have a chance and it would be cool having someone from around here win something.

I voted yes, BUT i think it should be moderated or something. To include only trusted companies. I mean, most of those "contests" are just ways to get info, they dont really give stuff out. So id say keep it moderated and only let the bigger-name contests through. But thats just how i feel about it, others may feel differently.

Quite honestly though, the same is said for alot of the freebies out there. Hence why I only sign up for freebies from sites & trust, companies I know, and websites that look like they have some time & money invested in them.

I agree on the competitions forum as its own forum but it would have to be moderated its an easy to fall into scam for collecting personal data and never sending anything out. I would also hate to be the moderator for it. Seems like a forum that would be inundated with BS.

Like others, contests aren't really my thing, but I can't see what we have to lose by creating a sweepstakes/contests/chance of winning forum, although I can see it providing flamebait for overzealous freebiegoers who are offended that some particular freebie post requires you to spin a wheel or something (we're all familiar with the 'play once a day for a chance to win' stuff by now) and start bitching about how it should be in Sweepstakes... but I digress.

Honestly, it sounds like it wouldn't do anything except improve the site. I vote yes.

Most of the freebies out in the internet are mainly site for collecting email addresses. That's why people say "it's too good to be true" then I just pass. More than likely I'll never see it & I'll get an increase in my spam folder. And personally, I think the freebie forum is becomming the BS forum with people posting their poker sites & scams to spend $200, but making $10 in the end

No, it's not something that would be hard to moderate. I think it would help to mention the date the contest ends & how often you can enter. It would be like monitoring anyother forum here.

I may get flamed for this, but many other deal sites like FW and TB have forums and links to very reputable sweepstakes (meaning offered by the name brand company itself). I think it's a great idea!

Looks like Optimus Prime is Volunteering for the job :woot: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :woot: :woot:

it would not be that hard 1 forum and about 8 category's

Enter 1 x, enter every day, enter 1X a week, monthly, and instant win, and unlimited,
and other (Recipe and essay contests). and the OMG I won area,

only the 1x sweeps would have to be watched the most for Reposts everyone will get pissed if disqualified.

also a link to the Rules with every post and start Date and/or End Date and were it is void in Example : Ca .NY, USA only.

Just Say Yes Please :crazylaf:

Assuming this even happens, that's a lot of categories, would probably be better to just post the entrance frequency in the title or the OP.

Im not a 'lucky' person but back a few years ago, I introduced some friends to freelotto.com. (It was free to play back then)

Well.. I won $300.00 plus dollars from them and thought I was the sh$t.. until a few days later.. my friend, who I referred, won a BMW.

So.. its my theory that if I 'refer' people ( not, making money, referrals) someone else will WIN!!

I won a car from entering an online contest. It was a promotion for a video game. I got a 2000 Honda Civic Si loaded with Playstation, DVD, video screens, etc....

They car had about $10,000 in upgrades. I sold it for $15,000 last year after having it for 2 years.

Also included was a trip to San Diego to be awarded the car at a car show, a trip to drag racing school in Florida, 2 playstations with games, Planet Hollywood gift certificates, racing jackets, mints, a backpack, and a couple other little things...

Shouldn't this be closed because there is now a sticky in the freebie's forum, althoughit does not have its own forum. The only difference is that there are already a lot of contests listed and it might be hard to look through them all and comment on each one.

No, it's still in it's trial phase. Hence why is't just a thread and not a seperate forum.

If more people post in the thread, we may get a seperate area.

I dont see why people need to comment on the actual post of the contest.

( In saying that....I have removed my 2 cents worth in the posts... btw.. I never expected the thread to bloom so I was being a wise a$$ before. :lmao: )

As Kel_Be suggested in the thread, PM the OP and let them know if the link is dead or over so it can be removed or modified. If they arent availible, just MOD alert it and it can be modified by any mod.

Maybe, if we get some winners, and the thread becomes a forum, we can have a place for people to note their wins and chit chat regarding the contests.

Until then, we can comment here (??)

Definitely!!

I came to this "sticky" thread to Mod Alert that we should have one.

The problem with NOT having a separate forum is that we can't comment (thumbs up/down) on each contest, or post whether it worked out if items arrived!

Having all contests in one giant thread means all related posts just get lost, and users eventually don't even visit it because it's too difficult to make sense of the posts.

Please make a sub-forum to the Freebies, right along with the Free Magazines, called Contests & Sweepstakes. :woot:

Since I started the thread, it has turned into a huge mess of posts. I have stopped posting in there and wont post until and unless we get a subforum.

Its just too confusing the way it is now.

There are some posts on the first pages that wont expire until Jan 06.. but unless you have the time to scroll thru all the pages, you will miss them.

This is my first visit to the suggestions forum and I was coming to post almost exactly what Jen_wv said. The sweepstakes thread is too long and it's not really useful the way it is. Now sweepstakes are getting posted in the freebies section in their own threads, which is fine IF the poster knows how to title the post. But to see a title that just says "Whatever name TShirt" makes one think it's a post for a free shirt, not a post for a sweepstakes/instant win.

I think there should be a sub forum for sweepstakes/instant wins just like there is for magazines. I also think the rules for the forum should include how exactly to title the posts. Each title should include the name of the game, if it's an IW (instant win) or Sweeps, if it's daily or weekly or a 1X thing, and the end date for the contest.

JMHO.

I think that the sweepstakes/contests thread should become a sub forum like magazines. Within this forum there should be a thread for when these contests/sweepstakes expire. Example: one thread for contests/sweepstakes that expire in november 2005, another one for those that end in december 2005, another one for those that expire in january 2006.....Also people can reply to each of these threads

This is because for some of them you don't know when they expire. Also the sweepstakes/contests thread is so long that you don't know which contest/sweepstake people are replying to.
