yeah i always thought that was weird.. because they're both on the same model - when SS first came out, I asked them tons of questions & they said "we are just like Upromise except.." - so it really is odd that SW doesnt do SS, at least to me. I have Upromise so good idea. :D

I have emailed them a few times too to see if they will add Safeway.
Until then, anytime I see a new coupon on SS I go to Upromise first and if it is there, I load there since 3 stores(for me) participate in Upromise and only 2 stores(same 2 out of 3 as Upromise) do on SS
I learned the hard way the first month that you can load at either/or but not both and since I have not found a way to remove it once loaded, I just make a point to check Upromise first

Sorry, think i was wrong on that scenario because this is a store coupon catalina. I think only the final price on these type of store coupons will count towards the promo. Probably the same with regards to jfu pricing (ie wont get credit for club price when jfu price is lower). Not sure if straight dollar(s) of store coupons will affect it though.

For the last frozen food catalina deal I discovered that doubles count against the minimum (in this case ten dollars). If this was the case for you, your total was $10.46 minus .50 double for a total of $9.96. Manufacture coupons shouldn't count against you.

It's usually the club price that counts. You should be able to get four for $10 counting minus $2.04 for the in-ad Q for a total of $7.96 and get the $5 cat. Though we won't know for sure until we get a confirmation.

My next transaction, I purchased four Stoffer's Farmer's Harvest Steam Bag Entrees that were marked to use the $5 frozen cat. Subtotal was $10. I used the $5 frozen cat (which deducted $5 from my total coded as "BASKET $5 Savings $5.00-F"), a $1/4 Stouffers MFG cat and the $3 Ore-Ida OYNO cat. Total was $1. I received the $5 Stouffer's OYNO cat offer that is linked to my club card but did not receive another $5 frozen cat.

Makes me wonder if I had another $5 of frozen, that the $5 frozen cat would have printed, or does using the $5 frozen cat cancel another one from coming out, regardless of your frozen total? Might have to experiment with a few combinations to find the optimal solution. I'm also going to assume that using mfg coupons will not affect the qualifying total.

Even doubles that have nothing to do with the frozen products count against you? SCO cashier just did a generic .50 mfc attached to nothing. If that were the case, then the silk .55 doubling and the .29 yocrunch doubling would also count against it.

I ask this not intending to criticize, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing any tricks. I do not understand the obsession with wanting to roll these cats. I understand trying to minimize your OOP, but it seems a better risk/return to take the guaranteed working deal and put the $5 cat in your pocket, as opposed to taking a chance of losing the $5 if it doesn't roll. Whether you spend the $5 cat now or spend it later doesn't seem to make a huge difference in my mind. I can always find something on sale to spend $5 on at Safeway.

So I got a question for the milk cat. I'm going in this morn for my first tranny of the week, and plan to do several transactions. On my very first transaction of Kelloggs, would it work to have the milk in that transaction also and hope the cat will print after the fourth box plus use it on the same tranny? I received the $5 Stouffer's OYNO cat offer that is linked to my club card but did not receive another $5 frozen cat.

Makes me wonder if I had another $5 of frozen, that the $5 frozen cat would have printed, or does using the $5 frozen cat cancel another one from coming out, regardless of your frozen total? Might have to experiment with a few combinations to find the optimal solution. I'm also going to assume that using mfg coupons will not affect the qualifying total.
Do MFG coupons take away from the $10 total since they now come off the price of the item on the receipt? I don't even know how I would explain it to CS since the receipt shows the price of the item minus the MFG coupons.

So I got a question for the milk cat. I'm going in this morn for my first tranny of the week, and plan to do several transactions. On my very first transaction of Kelloggs, would it work to have the milk in that transaction also and hope the cat will print after the fourth box plus use it on the same tranny? Or do I need to wait to use it until the next transaction?

Yup, scan the Kelloggs first and the milk cat will print right after the 4th box. Scan your milk and then use the cat from the Kelloggs. :grin:

I ask this not intending to criticize, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing any tricks. I do not understand the obsession with wanting to roll these cats. I understand trying to minimize your OOP, but it seems a better risk/return to take the guaranteed working deal and put the $5 cat in your pocket, as opposed to taking a chance of losing the $5 if it doesn't roll. Whether you spend the $5 cat now or spend it later doesn't seem to make a huge difference in my mind. I can always find something on sale to spend $5 on at Safeway.

In the past, it tended to be at least before manufacturer coupons, though I'm not sure about store coupons. One thing to keep in mind is that liquid dairy will not count towards the $75. I am planning my transaction for today and almost included the free milk in it, as part of the $75 I am "spending". I'll be mostly shopping for the items for the GM rebate, plus using my last $5/5 Kellogg's and getting $10 of frozen stuff. Between these three things, I am already almost at $75 and I do need to buy some fruit, too. :D

The last time I didn't account for dairy and was right at $80(had a $5 off 50 I was accounting for) and it would not take. Store pushed it through becasue they thought yogurt was not liquid dairy so I just made sure not to count my yogurt this time around.

report back on rolling the $5 cat. last night I bought 3 O veggis + 1 ice cream filler and got $5 cat.

today I bought :
Tran 1: 2 blueberry waffles (10ct) + 2 new orignial waffles (10ct)
paid with $5 cat and received $5 cat. no milk cat. but there was a sign by the cereal so I went to CS and showed the girl where the sign was . She offered to give me a raincheck for milk but it's not the sw near me so I told her to give me $4 SW card. she said well the milk doesn't cost $4 and I told her I buy organinc milk (which I really do. ) and i will pay the difference and she did. but she took off the sign from the shelf to avoid future questions I guess.

Even doubles that have nothing to do with the frozen products count against you? SCO cashier just did a generic .50 mfc attached to nothing. If that were the case, then the silk .55 doubling and the .29 yocrunch doubling would also count against it.

I'm not sure about the other doubles. I was going to do the GM TMFree rebate with pizza stuffers and Grands biscuit sandwhiches as part of my frozen deal then I remembered the last frozen food bonanza. I could do identical transactions and with doubles, no cat, without doubles still using coupons I would get the cat. It happened quite a few times. Our doubles are manual, not automatic. I think my coupons and doubles were all for frozen stuff. Our doubles don't 'attach' to anything either.

I thought I would get my missing cats from Catalina (at least five) because I was clearly over the minimum, but I fought with them for months and then gave up. They ended up sending me a $5/15 frozen coupon and they couldn't understand that it is not the same as a $5 OYNO. Then they wanted a scan of that sent in (and I'd already used it, it was going to expire and I couldn't let it go to waste!!) and I said forget it.

It depends on what market you are in. Here in the Chicago area, we have spend $10 get $5 to spend on "new" frozen products. In other areas, they have spend $15 get $5 to spend on any frozen products (not just new ones).

The "new" frozen $5s clearly say they are for the "new" products. If yours doesn't say that you are good to go.

On my first trip to Vons today, I bought 75 dollars in Vons giftcards, but did not get a 10 dollar cat. I did not really expect it, but hey I gotta try. Then I did my shopping. I made very sure I had 75 before coupons, my total before handing over coupons was around 87, I paid with 1 dollar partial payment, my 10 dollar cat popped out and then I handed over my coupons. i was able to roll the $5 cat off new frozen items on regular 10 ct eggos useing sco. i tryed using the $5 cat on yogurt and it did the 0.1 thing not taking the cat for it.

He can't force the $5 out of the machine and he started to chew the cashier (poor guy) out saying he is not suppose to force coupons through. He then walk away and start telling all the staffs what I was trying to do. I can hear laughters and a female cashier was asking, if it was "that lady". OMG I was so humiliated and embarassed by this whole shopping trip at this store.

In the past, it tended to be at least before manufacturer coupons, though I'm not sure about store coupons. One thing to keep in mind is that liquid dairy will not count towards the $75. I am planning my transaction for today and almost included the free milk in it, as part of the $75 I am "spending". I'll be mostly shopping for the items for the GM rebate, plus using my last $5/5 Kellogg's and getting $10 of frozen stuff. Between these three things, I am already almost at $75 and I do need to buy some fruit, too. :D

Were the Hot Pockets tagged as "new" in your 2nd transaction? If not, the $5 CAT should not scan.

For the coupons the cashier forced through, do any show up as store coupons on the receipt? If so, it then brought your total below $10.

So I just got back and things did not go as planned. The $5 CAT wouldn't scan at the SCO for the next transaction. Has anyone else had this problem at SCO? It scanned as .01.

And I had a problem with an IP coupon so the guy suspends my transaction and takes me to a register to finish up. I told him I didn't want to do that because it might not print the coupons, but it was too late. Sure enough, it didn't print the $5 FF CAT or the $3 Ore-Ida CAT. If I call CATALINA on Monday, will they mail me replacements? Does anyone have the details on the Ore-Ida CAT?

The Eggos did work for the milk CAT, but the milk CAT wouldn't scan at the register, and the guy spent 5 minutes reading it trying to find an excuse not to take it.

Oh, and the $5 CAT I got today expires in just 7 days. So a really short time for redemption if you don't roll it.

Let us know how you do today in MD. I had no luck at the SCO. I did 4 O veggies (reg. $3 here) and got the $5 cat. Tried to use that cat on 4 Eggos but it scanned .01. Then on the last transaction of 4 Ore-Ida and 1 O veg, my IP yogurt coupon wouldn't scan, and the guy suspended my transaction and took me to the regular register instead of just fixing it. From what I gather (haven't been to the store yet):

Is the O-Organic scenario a rollable cat? Not by itself. You have to buy $5 worth of "new" products along with the O-Organic veggies in your 2nd transaction and afterwards.

The Eggos can product two different CATs. One $5 "new" frozen and one free gallon of milk. You cannot roll to get both*. You need "old" Eggos to get the free milk CAT so you can't use the $5 CAT.

*(People have been successful in buying the 10ct "new" Eggos and going to CS at a store where the free milk CAT promo is displayed, since the promo says 10ct Eggos and the "new" 10ct Eggos don't trigger the CAT).

I have been successful, except the one store where they told me I could not use my cat except on new items...according to wording it is true. This O veggi one is really confusing. my friend bought 3 + 1 ice cream filler last night , used the $5 and no new cat came out.

The $5 Q wouldn't scan for some reason, the cashier said it was coming up as exceeding the item value, even though 5x1.99 is clearly > 5. On top of that, the milk CAT didn't print. On top of THAT, I noticed after my second trans that the cashier never gave me my change from the first trans, because he was too busy handing me the 10 junk CATs that printed and being annoyed with my coupon usage.

And on top of all of that, no management or customer service people were in to take any of this up with. What a freaking nightmare.

On my first trip to Vons today, I bought 75 dollars in Vons giftcards, but did not get a 10 dollar cat. I did not really expect it, but hey I gotta try. Then I did my shopping. I made very sure I had 75 before coupons, my total before handing over coupons was around 87, I paid with 1 dollar partial payment, my 10 dollar cat popped out and then I handed over my coupons. My final total was 65, then I paid with my giftcards. I know it is a very unconventional way to pay, but I need to make sure the cat will print. I did buy 2 Activia yogurts and 2 Frosted mini-wheats, but the milk cat did NOT print.
There was no signage in the store anywhere, so cust. service nor the checker would help at all. I went home, got my Sunset magazine, went back, spoke to the manager and was refunded 3.09 for my milk. :mad: Then I went on a diatribe about poor customer service when using coupons, bla bla bla and he gave me 5 dollars for my trouble. :D

I braved my hatred for SW and tried the Krave and frozen food deal yesterday. Luckily, the cashier was a super-patient college kid who was trying to do 10 things at once and help me at the same time.

The Krave coupons beeped "no item match". He told me this was due to the new barcode not being in their system yet. He entered in all 4 as grocery MQs. The "Free milk wyb 3 breakfast items" coupon went through but needed a price prompt.

I also bought 4 easy fries @ $1.25 and 2 of the Blue Bunny sweet freedom ice cream treats because they had $1 peelies on them. The sign said "Overstock clearance" but the ad said this was a new frozen food item. Anyhow, my total should have been $12 which is clearly enough for the $5 new frozen food cat to print, but only the $3 ore ida came out :dontknow: Cashier dug in the bin and found me a $5 cat.

Milk cat printed as soon as I scanned the last krave cereal.

From what I'm reading, lots of items are not counting when they should be. So I'm guessing it was the caramel Blue Bunny sweet freedom (sugar free) ice cream bars.

That is crazy. I did one tranx today with four new eggos (low fat regular - tagged new) and used a $5 frozen cat and got a $5 frozen cat and a milk cat.

Then did a 2nd tranx that I figured wouldn't work with two of the low fat and two of the french toast. Used a $5 frozen cat (took off 5) and got the milk and another frozen cat. :dontknow:

Milk cats beep like crazy. The short barcode is coded for Kelloggs, so that's most likely the reason. If you've used mqs for the Kelloggs items in your order, then the milk cat will beep because there's no more Kelloggs for it to attach to. Just my theory, of course. ;)

Yup. I tried one transaction where I was getting the Birds Eye that are a sale price when you buy 3. Previously it used to work that the full price would count towards a frozen deal. This time was a no-go. No cat printed as I was under 10 after the WYB 3 price. Oh well, I tried!

Also, I got this response from Safeway on Facebook when I asked if there was a full list of new items:

The Kashi "Steam meals" were marked as NEW at my store. I'm guessing I will have to pick items that are tagged, because if my $5 doesn't scan, they aren't going to accept it. For the milk CAT, the CS person walked down the aisle to read the tag instead of actually believing me when I said it stated "any kelloggs cereal"

Two days back I bought 3 O veggies and didn't notice sale price was 2/$6 (because there were not tagged at my store) and didn't get the $5 CAT, today I bought 4 O veggies and get $5 CAT. I gave my club card first, then just handed over 1.00. I have done this is the past and the cashier had balked about it, but I just explain, due to my "budget system", this is the way I have to do it;). Then they seem to be ok with that and do it. I did a "C" run which took me from 5:30 -7:30 (missed posting of Kraft CAT!), came home feeling like I'd been wrung out even tho had gone to friendly store.
I did SCO, and the penny trick worked for kicking out FF CAT but not 10/75.
Continue to be confused by FF posts, but I didn't buy new items for my initial FF run ($15 here). I have awesome 1.11 JFU price for SW OJ & just got a few items we like.
So glad JFU prices worked since I couldn't print my list.

Next chance to shop is Tues nite. I'll have the new ad by then to decide if I'll wait, & maybe by then get our list of new items or they'll be tagged.

I've seen some FB posts about it. SW says to clear cookies and close browser. PITA when you've got 15 tabs open! But I did try another browser, was able to access JFU site to see "down for maintenance".

Buy 4 of the Ore Ida Golden Crinkle fries that are 1.99. They are a new product. Spend $2.04 on one other frozen product (not meat, seafood or bakery).

Your total cost will be $10, use the $5 beep free at a regular cashier. You'll pay $5 and get back another $5 plus a $3 cat. So you've paid $2 for 4 bags of fries and one other frozen item.

Note that in our local ad, there is one page on which they have advertised the 'new' products. Obviously not all 200 of them, but at least 10.
