F-Secure...I had a sneaky suspicion it would be this product. Maybe it finally gets some deserved recognition.

good stuff, i run f-secure at work, and eset at home, i still prefer eset, and it's cheaper, but f-secure is pretty darn good too.

hmmm, kind of an interesting conclusion, considering their picks in certain areas.

Yup, good reminder to keep your AV updated, or get one if you don't have one.

avast is free and scored well above average.

Meh. They didn't provide detailed information about how they assigned their rankings and they only tested MSE 1.0, not 2.0.

I think their individual tests and forums go into quite a bit of detail about rankings. av-c seems to grade pretty heavy on few false positives and light resource use/system response. Considering where F-Secure was a few years back in those categories it's easy to see they have come a long ways. F-secure joins Kaspersky, Avira, Eset and Norton and also becomes the first av using a rebranded av engine/signatures in Bitdefender. There's other components to F-secure of course. Back when Kaspersky won product of the year F-secure was using the Kaspersky engine (yes I realize KAV does not rebrand it's latest engine) but that F-secure product would not have come close to winning Product of the Year. Considering how buggy BD usually is and how bad BD does against rogue malware, it is impressive to see how the F-secure in-house developed engines and behavior blocker have come along.

i'd really like to see how MSE 2.0 stacks up.... i really think it's a nice piece of software... in my limited personal testing
