Saw this deal at my local Costco today, was marked down from the previous $399.99 price. Seems like a pretty good deal for a cheap desktop with monitor. I got a copy of the sign and attached a picture of it in case anyone is interested.

Sorry, 170u is a 2GHz, 20W single-core. Less hot.

Thanks for the catch, I will edit the first post. Even still, seems like a decent deal for an internet/email/pictures machine. Or maybe i am just not used to seeing non-netbook computers for this price :dontknow:

Can someone tell me if this is better than the Frys HP AMD Athlon in the paper for 379? My kids need a new computer and I bought the Emachines slickdeal for $180 about a year ago and was probably the worst purchase. Horrible. They now use mine and dont even turn that one on... :(

What were the specs on that one? I'm not seeing it in my local fry's ad. Keep in mind this is going to be slightly better than a netbook in terms of performance. If they are looking to play any games other that web browser based games, or like to do a lot of multi-task computing, then you will probably want to find something more powerful. This computer would be optimal for very basic uses.
Also you may want to call your local Costco(s) and have them run the item # from the sign I scanned in to see if it's available in your area. I am in the Phx area and it seemed kind of hit or miss which stores around here had them. They said some stores in CA had them in stock as well.
