How did this happen?

I was looking at The Lounge, and I clicked to open my thread (Rate your day!), perhaps I used the scroll button, then the title became a form. I tried changing the title by adding an asterisk to the end of it and it worked (I've changed it since then). What causes that and how can I do it in the future if I want to change the title of a thread I posted?

It's a slow double click on the title.
