I know its been brought up/discussed before, but I thought I'd ask our members/ownership to re-visit the subject of adding a "Thread Preview" function to the site. If its a matter of expense, then by all means I side with the ownership for not having the functionality to do so; but if its a matter of merely being a change that is not desired, I ask that you all consider it.

Thread Preview allows you to "mouse over" the thread title to get a 1 line preview of the contents of the thread, without having to actually open the link. It's especially helpful as people will often post a topic, e.g., "Ipod deal" where the person is merely asking for a deal rather than posting one. Much time (and therefore money) can be saved by the reader not having to open the link to respond to an inquiry.

I dont know if its a resource hog, but believe me, its a change I was resistant to at first, as well, on other forums, but its been an invaluable tool when surfing other forums.

Thanks,

The title of the thread should be enough.

Thanks,

since you know this has been discussed and brought up before, then you should know the answer.

Didn't we have this feature at one point, and it was disabled?

Just check the category on the right before you click. If it's a deal, it'll be posted in Hot Deals. If someone's looking for help, it'll be posted in Help Me Find a Deal. :)

If the thread title does not give you enough information such as item, price, or if it is a request, I suggest mod alerting to have the title changed. Also include a suggested title in the mod alert to save us some time.

I have the coding for a popup feature like this, but it is so complex and doubt it will be useful for forums.

yep... it was considered annoying.
