if for some reason a thread is locked, i cant open the thread and see any posts. Whts the reasoning behind locking them and not deleting???
why r not they deleted instead of being locked?
locked threads always tempt me to know whts inside :evillaf:
thanks for not saying :rtfm:

I think you may have confused some terms
Locked thread (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=70647&t=37707) -- You can see the posts, but not reply (the mod alert function still works)
Deleted thread (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?p=3521064#post3521064) -- you cannot see it at all
AFAIK deleted threads go to a "folder" where they are saved and only mods & admin may view them. I don't know the exact reason(s) why SD saves them, but I could think of some reasons legal why they would want to keep them.

Blackmail? :dontknow:
The general rule of thumb is a post is deleted if it violates the rules of SD and locked if no rules are broken but further discussion is not needed based on moderator decision.

But can a Mods decision be overturned if they’re blackmailed?
I bet you didn't think of that one.

its a forum, and we keep them for 3 main reasons
1) we can bring it back later after discussing whether it should or not.
2) a record
3) we need some fun too :P
